Dr. Akira D. Olsen is a bilingual and bicultural Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Founder and CEO of JOURNEY HEALTH, a digital mental health clinic dedicated to integrative, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care. She is the recipient of the 2026 Humanitarian of the Year Award from Influencer Magazine UK and was recognized as a 2024 Marquis Who’s Who Honoree for her contributions to youth and family mental health, trauma education, and cross-cultural psychological care.
Fluent in English and Japanese, Dr. Olsen provides a compassionate and inclusive space for individuals, families, and professionals navigating anxiety, ADHD, trauma, stress, burnout, and complex life transitions. Her therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based modalities—including CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and transpersonal coaching—with Eastern philosophies and holistic practices inspired by her upbringing in Tokyo, where she studied art and Japanese fencing (kendo).
With more than two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Olsen has worked across community mental health agencies, medical institutions, schools, university counseling settings, and private practice. She has supported children, adolescents, adults, executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds. From 2018 to 2022, she served as a clinical researcher at Stanford Medicine and as faculty member and clinical supervisor at Palo Alto University and the Stanford PGSP Consortium. She also served as a Board Member and Diversity Chair for the San Mateo County Psychological Association.
Through WARM Education, Dr. Olsen provides training and consultation on trauma, ADHD, resilience, and culturally informed mental health care for clinicians, educators, families, and organizations. She is also a published author, speaker, and mental health educator, sharing practical psychological tools through books, workshops, YouTube, and social media. Her work has been featured on iHeartRadio and continues to inspire a global audience seeking healing, resilience, and meaningful personal growth.
