Adam Mark Harrison

Leadership and Wellbeing Coach and Trainer

Dr Adam Harrison is a former physician who graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in medical sciences from University College London and gained his medical degree from Imperial College London. He practised clinically from 2000-2019, initially as a surgeon and then as a Family Physician, and worked in medical leadership roles from 2016 onwards. He is also a qualified Attorney-at-Law, having been called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2014, following the successful completion of his law degree and barrister training course, both undertaken at Nottingham Law School. In 2020 Adam received his Diplomas in Life, Leadership and Executive Coaching and became a certified coach. As a result of both burning out twice and being on the receiving end of workplace bullying several times as a junior doctor, Adam has an interest in burnout prevention and confidence and mindset coaching for professionals who have also been the targets of workplace bullies. More recently he has been involved in helping support the perpetrators of workplace bullying with their reflections and rehabilitation. As a former medical director and because of his own experiences of working in organisations with toxic cultures, Adam helps leaders develop kind workplace cultures based on the compassionate, servant, inclusive and relational leadership model paradigms. The underpinning philosophy to both his workplace bullying and detoxifying leadership cultures work, is mental and physical wellbeing, which dovetails well with his work helping burnt out professionals, so he does a lot of work in that arena too. In fact, Adam creates and runs wellbeing workshops for organisations to help promote and embed wellbeing cultures in their workplaces. He strongly believes in doing work aligned with his core values (honesty, justice, gratitude, love and humour) and feels that shines through in his work. Adam is a strong female ally and has been a podcaster since May 2022 when he created and launched the show ‘Inspiring Women Leaders’ (which can be found here https://healthpodcastnetwork.com/show/inspiring-women-leaders or via your favourite podcast platform). He is married to an Attending Maxillofacial Surgeon with whom he has two incredible young daughters. Originally from the UK, they relocated to New Zealand in January 2024.
