  • Ellie Smith, Yoga Instructor, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Ellie Smith Founder and CEO of Ellie Smith Yoga Ltd Ellie first began yoga in 2007, practicing in her tiny living room shortly after moving from the U.K. to the Japanese countryside. Alongside teaching communication and cultural studies at the tertiary level, she quickly developed a passion for yoga, in particular Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga. Since obtaining her certification from Akasha Yoga Academy in 2021, Ellie has been teaching yoga in her local community in both English and Japanese, initially focusing on beginners and helping students persist in their practice. Currently, her unique approach guides students towards integrating yoga principles into everyday life, in particular how to apply it to the realm of public speaking. Ellie rediscovered the transformative power of yoga when she began to incorporate it into her university classroom, with the aim of significantly reducing her students' public speaking anxiety and enhancing their public speaking presence through simple asana, breathwork, and meditation practices. This realization led her to develop her business, Ellie Smith Yoga Ltd, dedicated to helping students and new professionals start and maintain a yoga practice, and then apply its techniques off the mat, particularly to improve their public speaking skills. She regularly writes about these concepts in her blog, “Foundations for Yoga Beginners,” and conducts online and in-person workshops for university teachers, providing them with practical yoga-based tools to help their students manage public speaking anxiety. Ellie’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that yoga is for everyone, and that it can be adapted to each person’s unique needs. Her motto, therefore, is “Focus on how you feel, and adjust accordingly” which she uses in both the yoga studio and the classroom. Her mission at Ellie Smith Yoga Ltd is to demystify yoga, presenting it as a collection of practical, science-backed tools that extend far beyond fitness, offering profound and positive impacts on practitioners, especially those looking to improve their public speaking skills. Ellie Smith Executive Contributor Yoga Instructor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. • Fabienne Renders, Learning & Development Strategist | Women’s Leadership Mentor , Senior Level Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Fabienne Renders is a Learning & Development Strategist and Women’s Leadership Mentor with more than 30 years of experience in Human Resources, including the last 20 years dedicated exclusively to Learning & Development. Throughout her career, she has worked with leading organisations across sectors, designing and implementing learning strategies, corporate academies, and leadership programmes that create meaningful change for both people and business. Her work is grounded in a clear conviction: learning should do more than inform. It should lead to real behaviour change, stronger leadership, and measurable business impact. Over the years, Fabienne has designed and delivered learning initiatives that have impacted more than 25,000 professionals, helping organisations move beyond one-off training towards learning experiences that truly make a difference. Her passion for this work is both professional and personal. At the age of 29, she was suddenly placed in a team leader role without training, mentoring, or support. That experience shaped her understanding of how costly it is when organisations expect people to perform and lead without investing in their development. It also became the starting point for her life’s work: helping organisations and individuals grow with greater clarity, confidence, and intention. Through her company TalentMakers®, Fabienne works with HR Directors, Learning & Development leaders, and organisations that want learning to become a strategic lever for growth. She helps them diagnose why learning is not translating into behaviour change, strengthen the connection between learning and business priorities, and design learning journeys that people engage with and apply in practice. Alongside her corporate work, Fabienne is passionate about mentoring women leaders. She helps them strengthen self-awareness, clarity, confidence, and authentic leadership so they can expand their influence and impact while staying true to themselves. Fabienne is the founder of TalentMakers®, the creator of START-TO-LEAD®, and the author of The SHE Leader Self-Discovery Journal. Her mission is simple: to create better learning, stronger leadership, and more meaningful development for people and organisations alike. With her incredible life, consisting of mental and physical violence, addictions, all her other suffering and diagnoses, her irrepressible life energy, which she has repeatedly brought up, with her spiritual know-how and her rediscovered love of life, she is now able to help people to get into emotional balance, to feel the self-worth and self-love again and to live consciously again. This deep and higher awareness and expanded understanding makes it possible to change health, situations and one's own life, as well as other lifes, into the positive. It consciously reactivates the memories of the original cells, so that body mind and soul can be felt and lived in harmony. • Amanda Maitland, Registered Psychotherapist , Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Hello! My name is Amanda Maitland, RP, currently dedicated to the continuous exploration of individual mental health. I am keenly curious and innately interested in exploring the big questions in life, such as “why are we the way that we are?”, “who am I?”, “why do I feel/react this way?”, and so on. With a career trajectory (finally) aligned with my passions and purpose, I feel truly honoured and trusted to be a part of so many individual healing journeys.   As a Psychotherapist, my approach stems from a humanistic lens, believing each individual (including our realities and general brain development) is a result of our experiences and unique life journey. I perceive myself to be a co-pilot in the healing ‘adventure’, while we collaborate to address life challenges and work together to create positive, healthy changes. I am passionate about bringing authenticity to my sessions, with lightheartedness and humour, while encouraging individual creativity. My goal is to provide my clients with a safe and comfortable space, as I look forward to greeting each individual with openness, non-judgment, empathy and trust.   To provide a brief background, I was born and raised in Toronto, earning my BA in Psychology and Business. Since then, after a whirlwind of service-industry experience, I’ve worked my way up to the operations of a major company, which was my initial goal upon graduating as to gain exposure to how large businesses “work”. Those years have blessed me with a wide range of social experiences and professional relationships, but most of all the burning desire to actually do something worthwhile in this lifetime! My passion for women empowerment was especially ignited throughout these experiences.   I began my career transition to psychotherapy as I worked alongside a brilliant physician/entrepreneur, working on various healthcare consulting projects. My favourite part of this experience was leading a conference series titled “Accelerating Innovations and Investments for Rare Diseases”. Through these interactions with patients and working in the clinical atmosphere, I realized much of the human suffering I saw was psychological (rather than solely physiological), relating to the importance of mental health and wellness. This insight – that the wounds that one cannot see are just as important to remedy – has fueled my drive to follow my “calling” and make meaningful contributions to the field of Psychology.   My personal time is primarily spent on self-education and feeding my curiosity for a wide range of subjects through reading and personal research. I am keenly interested in exploring the new directions being advanced in self-awareness and self-image, specifically those that stem from the research of Dr. Maxwell Maltz on Psycho-Cybernetics. When I am given the gift of free time, I love new adventures, travelling and exploring, any nature related activities, family time, cruising in the mustang, and of course relaxing with my twin kitties, Zeus and Zena.
