  • Alex Bolowich, Mental Performance Consultant, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Alex Bolowich, CMPC | Founder, Elite Mental Performance   Elite athletes face intense pressure to perform consistently at their peak. As a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and founder of Elite Mental Performance, Alex Bolowich equips athletes with the mental skills to enter any environment and approach it in a way they would be proud of, ensuring fulfilling memories regardless of outcomes. His vision is to make mental training as essential as physical training—shifting from reactive intervention to proactive excellence.   Alex's expertise stems from personal experience as a 5'9" NCAA Division I goalkeeper at Creighton University. Despite facing nine broken bones, three surgeries, concussions, and two shoulder dislocations, these challenges became the foundation for his mission. When a season-ending injury cut his collegiate career short, he transformed this setback into purpose: helping athletes overcome mental battles that "push through it" advice fails to address.   Drawing from his Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology, training in Brainspotting, and principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Alex guides athletes through high-stakes environments and injury recovery. His approach has proven effective across Division I programs, professional athletes, and Olympic athletes.   "You can either play the mental game, or the mental game will play you," Alex often says. Through Elite Mental Performance, he helps athletes develop the mental fortitude to face not just competitive challenges, but life's uncertainties with courage and clarity. "We may not get to write the story of our careers, but we can shape how we face the inevitable challenges along the way." • Alex Gede, E-commerce and Social Media Manager, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Alex Gede came from a family that struggled with health and weight issues. He could see the problems his aunts were having—mobility problems and diabetes. This must have had an impact on him as he grew up not liking food. He would have an apple for breakfast and a small dinner, but nothing more.   As a young teenager, he was already 6’3’’ and was dreaming of becoming a model. But his confidence was destroyed by bullies in school calling him names like ‘bones’ because of how skinny he was and only weighing 132 pounds. Also, his family wanted him to go to university to study Engineering or Medicine. He later settled for Accounting and Finance.   After university and years working in the Bank, he finally found the courage to start going to the gym. His body transformation in less than a year got the attention of many on social media and ended up being featured on Men’s Health Online. This new found love for working out gave him the confidence he needed to start modelling which has always been his true love.   Alex Gede went on to compete in Mr Ideal Nigeria where he won a title and was invited to compete in Mr Africa International 2016 where he came first runner-up. Since then he has worked on many brands and campaigns. His physique naturally moved him into fitness and underwear modelling. After paying so much money on his first e-commerce brand and still didn’t like it, he dedicated his time to studying and learning all about e-commerce and even became a Shopify Partner. He went on to start his gym wear brand. This was how his love for e-commerce started. Unfortunately, the brand was founded with a friend who did not want to have any contact with him when he came out so the brand was dissolved.   After working with most of the well-known underwear brands, he realised that comfortable underwear are not very attractive and the good-looking ones that you would like to show off are very uncomfortable. This led him to start working on his designs and learning how to design underwear during the lockdown. The brand was launched in 2021 and has been growing ever seen even being included in two of the biggest underwear subscription and men's grooming boxes.   His brand Club Seven Menswear was founded in 2021 and in 2023 won Luxury Men's Underwear Brand of the Year from UK Enterprise Awards 2023. He now spends his time coaching brands, consulting on branding and e-commerce, modelling, and anything he enjoys doing. • Meghan Christina Rusco, Leader and Innovator, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Before there were wellness treatments or copper wire creations, there was a little girl with a briefcase and a dream. She called her column "As Our Stomach’s Turn," typed up stories between homework and hide-and-seek, and ran her newsroom from a bedroom outfitted like the Daily Planet. I used to spy on my family, not for mischief, but for the quiet thrill of uncovering the truth and printing it in bold letters. I submitted poetry to Highlights for Children, imagining I'd someday be a journalist who mattered. Maybe I still am, just in a different form—a mother, a healer, a storyteller grounded in lived experience. What you’ll find in these pages isn’t a tale of perfection. It’s a map of messiness and meaning, a testament to surviving and showing up. I’ve been the quiet girl and the barricade in the doorway. I’ve doubted myself and discovered pieces of strength I didn’t know I had. I’m still finding them. This is me owning my voice—not with fanfare, but with the same curiosity and courage that started everything in that childhood newsroom.
