Vernell Hardy Jr
Poet, Artist & Author
Vernell Hardy Jr. was born on July 21, 1974, in Newport News, Virginia, but was predominantly raised in Maryland. Growing up in a military base lifestyle, he was raised by his parents, Vernell Sr. and Carolyn Marie Hardy. From an early age, Vernell was drawn to the literary arts, spending much of his childhood absorbed in poetry books and novels.
He briefly attended Kentucky State University, where he took psychology courses, but it was life’s journey that provided him with his most valuable knowledge and perceptions. Vernell faced struggles with alcohol abuse that nearly proved fatal, and he experienced the loss of family members and loved ones to suicide.
Out of these challenges, he dedicated himself to gaining knowledge and developing courses to help others overcome the struggles of mental illness. Whether through pamphlets of inspirational quotes, motivational talks, or poetic messages, Vernell’s words are crafted to inspire reflection, spark thought, and plant seeds of change.
