  • Erin Taliaferro , Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Dr. Erin Attaway went to acupuncture school in 2003, way before it was cool. She opted out of medical school, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, and moved to Austin, TX, to learn Chinese medicine.   Her friends and family thought she was crazy.   Her first acupuncture experience was amazing. She says, “I don’t know how to explain it, I was just a different person when I got up.”   That one experience immediately changed her career trajectory, sending her to register at the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin within a few weeks. “I felt like the Universe chose me and all I had to do was show up.”   She invested in Chinese medicine for help with some strange health issues. It resolved her problems without any medications or procedures and she became a true believer in the power of clean living, good diet, and physical activity.   Sharing this wisdom is her passion.   She concentrated on the women in her clinic and focused all of her continuing education on understanding women’s physiology, endocrinology, gynecology and fertility. The necessary ingredients for helping women heal their bodies and minds.   She became a Fellow of the American Board of Reproductive Medicine in 2011. A member of the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association in 2017, and added Applied Clinical Nutritionist to her credentials in 2020. In 2023 she finished the Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine program at Pacific College of Health and Science, officially becoming Dr. Erin Attaway.   Now building a personal brand online, she is using her clinical knowledge to educate women on simple strategies for healing. She is focused on the interplay between body and mind, using traditional nutrition principles as the backbone. • Sabine Horner, Grief Nutritionist, Ayurvedic & Yoga Therapist, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

With a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological toll of loss, Sabine specialises in guiding individuals through grief, helping them reclaim their health and vitality. Her journey into holistic healing began with a personal tragedy: the loss of her husband, Kevin, to acute myeloid leukemia. Inspired by the healing power of food, herbs, and yoga she witnessed during Kevin’s illness, Sabine remained steadfast in her belief in the body's innate capacity for healing after his death. As she navigated her own grief journey, Kundalini yoga became her anchor, leading her to become a certified yoga therapist, utilising movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and sound to support her own healing and that of others. Meanwhile, Sabine also obtained qualifications as a nutritionist and health coach, earning memberships in recognised professional organisations such as the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary & Healthcare Council (CNHC). Pursuing her passion for Ayurveda, Sabine decided to train as an Ayurvedic Digestive Health Coach in the US before embarking on a post-graduate qualification in Ayurveda at the Alma Mater Europe in Slovenia, deepening her understanding of the body-mind connection and expanding her toolkit of healing modalities with the ancient art of pulse diagnosis. Today, Sabine combines her expertise in Western nutrition, yoga therapy, and Ayurveda to offer a unique and holistic approach to healing from grief. Sabine is a sought-after speaker at health and bereavement events, a monthly contributor to the 'Feel Good Friday' show on Yowah Radio and a regular blog writer for AtaLoss. Through her dedicated work, she raises awareness of the profound impact of grief on mind and body, sharing insights into the link between emotional stress, nutrient deficiencies, and other post-loss imbalances. With warmth, compassion, and a deep commitment to empowering others, Sabine guides bereaved individuals towards a path of healing and renewal, helping them rediscover joy, purpose, and vitality in life after loss. • Daniela D Sota, Registered Psychotherapist, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

I am Daniela Sota, a Registered Psychotherapist in Toronto, Canada. I hold a Bachelor of Science and a Master's in Clinical Psychology. I've trained in various forms of traditional talk therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Over time, I expanded my skill set to include adjunct therapies like Mindfulness and Trauma-Informed Hypnosis, and neuroscience-based approaches such as Brainspotting and EMDR. As the sole proprietor of Sota Psychotherapy, I focus on using primarily EMDR to help clients navigate a wide range of challenges, including trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship issues, anger, grief, and performance enhancement in business, sport, and art. I’ve found that no matter their struggle, clients who are open to trying EMDR often experience positive outcomes. For many years, I practiced traditional talk therapy, but I often felt dissatisfied when clients returned to therapy after leaving when they were feeling well. In my opinion, the effects of talk therapy just didn’t seem to last, and I experienced this firsthand after going through three rounds of it myself, each with underwhelming outcomes. It wasn’t until my fourth attempt that I found a therapist I truly connected with, who introduced me to EMDR. Three months later, I walked into my final session and shared with my therapist that I had been up all night wondering what we would talk about that day. I felt unburdened, free, and ready to move forward. I was confident, trusting myself, and no longer judging myself or anticipating judgment from others. It was a profound experience that solidified my belief in the power of EMDR. I was fascinated by EMDR, not only because of the changes I experienced within myself but also due to its grounding in neuroscience. I wanted to understand exactly how it worked, why it works, and the mechanisms behind it. I had so many questions—questions I didn’t know had answers. Why do I find myself repeating patterns even after promising I won’t? What’s behind that “what was I thinking?” moment? And what are those butterflies in my stomach trying to tell me? And the science behind EMDR answered those questions. This newfound knowledge empowered me, and I wanted to share that with others. EMDR opened my eyes to the complexities of our brains and bodies, and I felt driven to help clients unlock that understanding for themselves. It was a turning point in my career and my life, leading me to focus on this approach that truly fosters lasting change. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness transformations, especially when clients begin to see their struggles in a new light. EMDR facilitates healing from distressing events and allows us to perceive things through a more adaptive lens . Clients can reclaim their lives and move forward with greater confidence and clarity. I’m continually inspired by my clients' courage in confronting their challenges, and I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where they feel empowered to explore their experiences.
