Emma Toms, The Confident Wellness Coach
Who is Emma Toms? Introduce yourself, your hobbies, your favorites, you at home and in business. Tell us something interesting about yourself.
At my heart, I am someone deeply committed to the art of living well – not just in body, but in mind and spirit too. My work is a blend of science meets spirituality and always captures the magic and mystery of life. It is an extension of my own journey through autoimmune illness and the deep healing it led me to. I see my role as a guide, helping others reconnect with their innate resilience and wisdom. The unique essence that lives in all of us
Away from my practice, I’m drawn to the simple, grounding things: long walks in nature, the rhythm of the seasons, cooking nourishing food, and quiet moments with a book or journal. I love exploring Glasgow’s vibrant culture while still holding onto my early countryside roots, where I find calm and inspiration.
Something people might find interesting about me is that I lived with an autoimmune diagnosis for over 30 years, yet through holistic practices and nervous system work, I’ve brought myself into remission. That lived experience shapes how I show up in business – blending science with spirituality, knowledge with intuition. Home and work are not separate worlds for me; both are expressions of living in balance, connected to purpose, and honouring the journey of growth.
What inspired you to become The Confident Wellness Coach?
My inspiration comes from lived experience. At 17, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, and later, in my 40's with Graves’ Disease after periods of chronic stress. Those challenges forced me to look beyond conventional solutions and explore nervous system regulation, Integral Eye Movement Therapy, Reiki and somatic practices. The transformation I experienced – moving from fear and fatigue into resilience and balance – ignited a passion to guide others on the same path. Becoming The Confident Wellness Coach felt natural, because confidence in one’s own body and healing journey is the foundation of sustainable wellness.
How do you help clients who feel stuck in their health or confidence journey?
When clients feel stuck, it’s rarely because they lack willpower, it’s because their body and nervous system are holding them in cycles of stress, fear, or overwhelm. Using tools such as IEMT, we explore what might be happening for them, helping them slow down, to come out of fight/flight, reconnect with their body’s signals, and create space for safety and regulation. From there, we use integrative tools like the Safe and Sound Protocol, somatic practices, Yoga Nidra and Reiki to release old patterns and restore trust in themselves. This process not only supports physical healing but also rebuilds confidence, showing clients that they are not broken, they are capable of change.
What makes your approach to wellness different from others?
My approach blends science and spirituality in equal measure. I draw from neuroscience, trauma-informed practice, and mind–body education while also honouring energy work and the wisdom of ancient traditions. Having worked in both healthcare and holistic settings, I understand the value of bridging the two worlds rather than choosing one over the other. Most importantly, my guidance is shaped by my own lived experience of chronic illness and recovery. I know what it feels like to be lost in the system, and I also know the profound possibility of healing when we learn to truly listen to ourselves. That balance of personal understanding, professional training, and integrative practice is what makes my work unique.
How do you support clients in creating lasting lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes?
Quick fixes rarely work because they bypass the deeper layers of why we feel unwell or stuck. My role is to help clients slow down and truly understand themselves and the patterns – physical, emotional, and nervous system-based, that are shaping their health. We work on building awareness, regulation, and sustainable practices that fit their real lives, not an idealised version of it. By combining science-backed tools with somatic and energy-based practices, clients learn to listen to their body’s signals and respond with compassion rather than force. The changes may begin gently, but they take root because they are embodied, intentional, and aligned with who the client truly is. This is why the work lasts, it’s not about doing more, it’s about doing differently.
What is the best way for people to connect with you and start their journey?
The best way to connect is through my website, where I share details about my 1:1 coaching programmes, group courses, and resources. I also write regularly on Substack, where I offer reflections, practical tools, and insights into living well with chronic stress or autoimmune challenges. For those who prefer social connection, I share regular content on Instagram and Facebook. Whether someone chooses to begin with a conversation, a workshop, or simply by reading along, the first step is always about creating a safe, supportive space to reconnect with themselves.
