Who is Maria Alejandra Toledo Valderrama? Introduce yourself, your hobbies, your favourites, you at home and in business. Tell us something interesting about yourself.
So, where do I even begin! I'm Maria Alejandra, Ale for short, born and raised in Colombia, and at just 17 years old, I did something a little crazy and a whole lot brave. I packed my bags and moved to Australia, completely on my own. And honestly? I can say with my whole heart that it has been the best decision I've ever made in my life.
That journey, as an immigrant, as a student of life, and now as a business owner, has shaped me in ways I could have never imagined. It taught me to truly see and appreciate the things we as human beings so easily take for granted. I won't pretend it was all smooth sailing, because it wasn't. It was tough. Really tough at times. But thanks to all of it, I am who I am today, and I'm doing what I'm doing for others. So if you asked me, "Would you change anything?" Honestly, no. Not a single thing. Every bad decision, every hard moment, every unexpected turn has led me exactly to where I am right now, and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world.
Now, when I'm not working, you'll find me doing one of three things I absolutely love. First, anything food-related. I adore cooking, and I have a real weakness for finding the best burger joints around! Second, adventure. Give me a hike, a new beach to explore, a stunning mountain viewpoint, or even a skydiving jump, and I am there. And third, the more peaceful kind of recharging, a quiet swim at a calm beach, or booking myself a sauna and cold plunge day. That hot-cold contrast does something magical for the body and mind. I can't recommend it enough.
At home, I love being surrounded by clear, organised spaces. I truly believe that the environment around you creates space for your mind to think clearly and feel at peace, so I'm always keeping things intentional. I also love change! I'll happily rearrange furniture, shake up my routines, and keep evolving the way I do things. For example, lately I've been doing walking meditations, and the impact has been incredible, something I hadn't tried before but now absolutely love. That's just how I operate. I test things, see how I feel, and adjust. Life gets boring when you do the same thing the same way forever!
Through building Ale's Health, I've also learned something that I carry with me every single day, we are all creators. We come from the Creator, and we are meant to create. That's how powerful we are as human beings. We can take an idea and bring it to life if we truly believe in it and commit to making it happen. Business has also shown me that nothing worth having comes without its challenges, whether you work for someone else or you're your own boss, the challenges are always there. What matters is that you choose a path you actually want to walk. I used to want everything to happen immediately, to reach the goal as fast as possible. But life has gently taught me it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. These days, I try to be fully present in every moment, embrace the ups and downs with love and acceptance, and trust that even a "why is this happening to me?" moment has a beautiful purpose that I'll understand in time.
What inspired you to start Ale's Health, and what is its core mission?
The inspiration behind Ale's Health came from a realisation that really changed everything for me. I began to notice that so many people, myself included at different points, were putting enormous energy into their health through diet and exercise, but still not feeling the way they truly wanted to feel. And I started asking why. What I discovered is that reaching that optimal level of health and wellbeing we're all searching for doesn't happen when we only focus on the external. The inner side, our mindset, our breath, our emotional patterns, the way we think and behave, is equally, if not more, important.
That's what inspired me to start teaching what I call the whole spectrum of health. So many of us keep pouring effort into the outside without ever realising how much our inner world is running the show. Ale's Health was created to bridge exactly that gap, to offer people a complete, holistic approach to wellbeing that includes breathwork, mindfulness, nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle practices all working together. Our mission is to help every person we work with discover and unlock their true human potential, and create lasting transformation that goes way beyond quick fixes. Real, deep, sustainable change, that's what we're here for.
Who do you primarily help through your services, and what challenges do they usually face?
The people I work with are driven, motivated individuals who are genuinely ready to make a change. A big part of my community is stressed professionals, people who are high-functioning on the outside but carrying a heavy load on the inside, dealing with stress levels that are quietly affecting every area of their lives. But I also work with people who simply feel like there is more available to them, more energy, more clarity, more joy, more of everything, and they're committed to going after it. And then there are those who are truly ready for a full life transformation and are willing to do the inner work that makes it happen.
The common challenge I see across all of them is a sense of disconnection between their mind and their body, between how they feel day to day and how they know they could feel. Many have already tried the external approaches, the diet plans, the gym routines, the supplements, the productivity hacks. And while those things have their place, they haven't addressed the root of what's really going on. That's where Ale's Health comes in. We go deeper. We help people manage their stress in ways that actually last, reconnect with themselves, break free from patterns that have been running their lives on autopilot, and start truly enjoying life, through all its inevitable ups and downs.
How does your approach to health and wellness differ from others in the industry? Can you share a success story or transformation that highlights the impact of your work?
What makes Ale's Health different is that we don't separate the pieces. Most wellness approaches out there work in silos, you go to one person for nutrition, another for stress, maybe someone else for mindset. What I offer is a fully integrated methodology that addresses all of these dimensions together, breathwork, mindfulness, nutrition, nervous system regulation, and deep behavioural patterns, all as one cohesive experience. Because the truth is, you really can't fully transform one area without addressing the others.
One of the tools I'm most passionate about is breathwork. I have witnessed it create shifts in people that years of other approaches simply couldn't touch. When we learn to regulate our nervous system through breath, the body starts releasing tension it has been holding onto, sometimes for years. Layer that with mindfulness practices, intentional nutrition, and genuine inner work, and the transformation that unfolds is something really special. It lasts, because it comes from within.
And rather than just telling you about it, I'd love for you to hear it straight from someone who has lived it. You can watch a beautiful client testimonial here. Their words will give you a much clearer picture of what becomes possible when you commit to working from the inside out.
What role do mindset and lifestyle play in the way you guide your clients?
A massive one, honestly, I'd say they are the foundation of everything we do at Ale's Health. You could have the most perfectly designed nutrition plan in the world, but if your mindset is quietly working against you, if there are deep-rooted patterns or beliefs driving your behaviour beneath the surface, the results will always feel temporary or out of reach.
Mindset isn't just a bonus add-on to health, it is health. The way you think, the way you speak to yourself, the way you respond to life's challenges, all of it has a direct impact on your wellbeing, right down to a cellular level. And lifestyle is the same. Sustainable wellness isn't built on willpower and white-knuckling your way through the day. It's built on intentional daily habits, on small consistent choices, and on creating an inner and outer environment that supports who you're becoming.
In my programs, we look at the full picture, how you start your mornings, how you breathe, how you move, what you eat, and the unconscious patterns that have been quietly running your life. When we start shifting all of those things together, that's when something really shifts. And the best part is it doesn't feel like a struggle, because we're designing a lifestyle that actually feels good to live.
What drives your passion to keep learning and innovating in the health and wellness field?
There are honestly so many ways that things can be innovated every single day, and even more so now in this incredible era of information we're living in. Keeping on learning is something I have always loved and will never stop doing. There's something about staying humble and genuinely open to new ways of doing things that I find deeply energising. The world of health and wellness is evolving so beautifully, from neuroscience to breathwork research to everything we're discovering about the mind-body connection, and I want to be right there at the frontier of it, always growing.
But what truly drives me, at the core, is the people I get to serve. Every single person who walks into the Ale's Health world deserves the very best of what I can offer, and that means never settling for where I am today. I'm always asking, "How can we do this better? How can we make a deeper impact? How can we serve in a more meaningful way?" All while staying rooted in the foundations and vision of Ale's Health, our true north, which is to contribute to society in the best way we possibly can. That purpose lights me up every single day, and I genuinely believe the best of what we have to offer is still ahead of us.
