Social media, audio media, what’s next? Oh my! In the past 10-15 years, social media has taken the world by storm. Specifically, these past 2 years have brought audio media to an astounding increase of over 400%. As a whole society shifts gears, I have found that we love to listen in on what is happening on social media vs scrolling through Facebook or Instagram.
If you thought being an entrepreneur (Midlife Transition Specialist), TV Host and Podcast host wasn’t enough, a new social audio media is tuning out the old and turning into a listening learning experience! You may have heard of Clubhouse (hereinafter “CH”) and Wisdom, metaphorically speaking. In June of this past year, Facebook also came out with a similar platform competing with CH and Wisdom.
As an online entrepreneur, I have to ask myself what are the advantages of this newest and popular way to connect with listeners and potential clients around the world? Is it as simple as it all seems? Well, simplicity is what we all like but engaging in a way that is more comfortable for the user and who may be Zoom fatigued to connect with a potential follower, listener, potential client around the world is now in my opinion the new audio marketing norm.
While we all were mesmerized and “grew up” and eventually “graduated” in the social media age of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and I am sure I forgot a few social media platforms, I am amazed and pleasantly surprised at the ease in the simplicity of using CH. I actually have my own club on CH: Midlife Mastery where I host weekly, interactive conversations with people from around the world on the type of work I do and how it is advantageous for those seeking assistance in an autonomous listening way.
I recently joined Wisdom, which is very similar to CH. Each platform allows automatic recording – very similar and a new digital type of “podcast”. In CH, there is a way to turn the replays off so that there would be no actual recording. What I like about Wisdom is that your conversation is automatically recorded and remains under your bio for listeners to hear after the live recording has concluded. You are allowed to have (1) speaker join you at a time and you are also able to set a time limit on the length your speaker is allowed to be on “stage” with you.
Tapping into the audio revolution is the wave of new marketing and interaction with potential clients. Listening to the authenticity and genuineness of someone’s voice that you may want to hire is an indiscriminately way for your potential client to interview you in real-time vs the time and energy to conduct and arrange a convenient time for a “sales” call with you without it actually being a sales call. It’s a win-win for each participant.
Marketing has taken a new direction for any entrepreneur as you do not have to spend all sorts of money on Facebook ads, boosting your posts, or any type of paid advertising. Why not generate the authenticity of your voice and more importantly market your message to your target audience in an unbiased way?
You can post all you want (and yes, I still do), but to engage in a more meaningful, genuine connection with the power of our voice is beyond just hearing what one has to say. It’s the art of listening, connecting, and engaging in real-time with an audience that wants to listen and engage with you
Offices around the globe are filled with entrepreneurs listening to podcasts and CH or Wisdom, why can’t that be you? The digital audio airwaves have arrived and are here to stay!
