There are a lot of quotes about success. However, there is one quote that I had to revise to make it work for me.

You may have heard the quote, "Success is when preparation meets opportunity." Well, that's undoubtedly true, but I don't think it is sufficient. I like to say that "Success is when preparation and your connections meet opportunity."

Preparation is critical because you can't just start hiking if you want to climb a mountain. You have to have gear, supplies, maps, and an understanding of the terrain. Connections are critical because the bigger the mountain, the more you have to rely on the right people to help you reach the summit.

This requires a fostering of relationships that can't be just surface level. People need to know that you are prepared, that they can rely on you, and that you contribute your unique strengths to help them get to the top as well.

Many people think they can reach their goals through buying clicks on Instagram or building up their image on social media, but that never works as a substitute for authentic connection.

The secret is that there's no secret! You have to do the work because you simply can't skip the prep or the building of true connections.

When I first started my own business, there was an initial sense of going it alone. But as I built the connections and built my capabilities through preparation, those gaps started to fill themselves in.

The more skills, experiences, and personal insights I added to my foundation of preparation, and the more I fostered my connections, the more opportunities naturally arose. And of course, that led me to feel more confident in serving people, and it gave them the confidence to rely on and trust me.

Along the way, I have had many mentors, guides, and teachers because there's a lot to learn, and there's no sense in going it alone when there are so many people ready to help.

If you have a mission, purpose, or vision you want to attain with this one precious life, let's have a conversation and explore how we might accelerate your ascent to the top.
