Stand in Your Own Power and Let Yourself Shine
Heidi Marja Norman is a certified yoga teacher and spiritual guide whose transformative journey began in 2011 after a head injury. Trained in multiple yoga styles and chakra work, she specializes in guiding women toward self-discovery, feminine energy, and holistic wellness through understanding the interconnection of body, mind, and spirit.
Many of us have learned to dim our own light. We have learned not to be too much. Not to take up too much space. Not to be too strong, too visible, too sensitive, or too powerful. At the same time, we may feel expected to be capable, dependable and always available.

So we learn to adapt. We make ourselves smaller to fit into the spaces we find ourselves in. In relationships. In families. In environments that may no longer be good for us.
We are afraid of being judged, criticized, or rejected. Perhaps, more than anything, we are afraid of being alone or abandoned. So we stay.
We tell ourselves we can handle a little more. That the relationship might get better if we just try harder. We find explanations and excuses. We may even begin to believe that staying, fighting, and making it work is the right thing to do. Because we have been taught not to give up. So we try a little longer.
Slowly, something begins to happen within us. Our strength starts to fade. We become tired and discouraged. We may withdraw from other people because we no longer have much left to give. Almost all of our energy goes into enduring, trying to make things work, and convincing ourselves that we just need to hold on a little longer.
Perhaps that little voice inside us is wrong. But what if it isn't? What if the quiet voice we keep trying to silence is our intuition asking us to pay attention? The voice whispering, “Something is wrong. This isn't good for me. Something needs to change.”
Our body often knows long before our mind is ready to understand. It sends us signals, like restlessness, tension, or exhaustion. A feeling of losing ourselves. A deep sense that something simply isn't right. These experiences invite us to pause and explore what we need.
Perhaps it isn't only about the people around us. Perhaps we have moved so far away from ourselves that we can no longer hear what we truly need.
Ultimately, we are responsible for our own lives. Recognizing those needs is a place to begin. Change may take time and support. We cannot always control what other people do, but we can begin to take responsibility for our own choices, our boundaries, our energy, and how we care for ourselves.
When we constantly make ourselves smaller, compromise what truly matters to us, and remain in relationships or situations where our fundamental needs are not being met, we can slowly lose touch with who we are. Our light begins to fade. Not because the light has disappeared, but because we have forgotten what it feels like to let it shine.
This is where the journey back to yourself begins. When you start to listen. To your body. To your boundaries. To your needs. To your energy. To the quiet voice within you.
When you begin to understand what drains you, what holds you back, and what you need in order to feel whole, you can slowly begin to reclaim your power. You begin to know yourself again. You learn the language of your body.
You begin to recognize the difference between what opens you and what closes you. What gives you energy and what drains you. What feels right for you and what you may have stayed in simply because you were afraid of what would happen if you chose differently.
As you learn to stand in your own power, you can give yourself space and express what matters to you. You no longer need to dim your light to make other people comfortable. You are allowed to shine.
This is what Feminine Yoga is about. Exploring what it means to find your way home to yourself. To your body. To your energy. To your intuition. To the power that has always been within you.
It is about moving out of constant survival mode and learning how to land. It is about creating space to pause. To breathe. To soften. To feel. To listen. Not to become a different version of yourself, but to come closer to who you already are.
The journey takes us through the chakras, where we explore areas of imbalance, energetic blocks, and places where our energy may be leaking away. We become more aware of where we are holding ourselves back, where we are abandoning ourselves, and where we need to call our energy back home.
The journey begins at the foundation, bringing awareness to the pelvis and pelvic floor. Here, we explore a different way of accessing our power. Not by pushing harder. Not by fighting. Not by forcing ourselves to endure even more. It’s through finding stability, connection, and strength within ourselves.
When you come home to your body, learn to listen to its signals, and begin to protect and nurture your energy, something changes. You become more grounded. You become clearer about what belongs to you and what does not. You stop abandoning yourself in order to belong.
Little by little, your light returns with more room to shine. Not because someone else gives it back to you, but because you finally give yourself permission to shine and be seen.
Stand in your own power. Find your way home to yourself, and let your light shine.
