Are you holding yourself up with content creation by waiting for inspiration to hit? Do you feel you need to be “in the right zone” to write your blog posts, jump on a live, share on social media, or record a video?

The resistance to being consistent is really common ‒ and I have some key tips to support you.

First off, I totally, wholeheartedly agree that being in the frame of mind, and in aligned energy is super important for sharing a message that connects. Why? Well, It means you are operating creatively and from your values, your message will have more impact, it will connect to people, resonate with them, and ‒ this is the key piece ‒ you will enjoy it all far, far more.

But here’s the trick:

You can help yourself be consistent by creating the energetic alignment, state, and environment to access that energy and flow zone on demand.

I have a raft of tried and tested ways of working that I know for sure help me to get connected to myself, and in my human connection, content creation zone. I need:

  • Time away from ALL THE THINGS (screens, people, to do lists, my own thoughts, distractions, social media).

  • A strong Earl Gray tea, or a flat white with oat milk.

  • Binaural beats or some drum and bass (Spotify or YouTube are my go to’s for both).

Sometimes, setting a timer for 25 minutes ‒ thank you, Pomodoro method ‒ creating space away from distractions, and just making a start really helps to move my creative juices long, and momentum begins.

In essence, space, focus, and time limits support my creation environment, a collection of rituals that work together to create a peak state and ideal environment that works for me to create in.

In addition, I also need high-quality inputs to help kickstart ideas, and this is an ongoing practice. So, I make sure I am reading or listening to something new every day; from blogs to industry journals, magazines, books and podcasts, videos and radio shows, adding new inputs intentionally allows us to steer clear of echo chambers and groupthink. Also, by taking in something new to fire up our brain cells, it is easier to spark those neural pathways and generate ideas for content and conversation. Creating micro habits that become your new normal, and knowing how to tap into your creative, focussed flow state makes it super easy and accessible to be consistent with your content creation. Connecting to yourself and discovering how you work best is crucial for being able to add your voice to wider conversations in your field, and more directly to your clients and audience.

Knowing how to replicate your best environment on demand is a crucial piece of your toolkit.

Over time, begin to observe the triggers that set you up for that magical zone, and replicate it when you need to.

Create your own set of self-connection and creative rituals, and watch your content creation flow with ease, and create the impact you deserve and desire.
