High-achieving leaders aren’t burning out because they’re weak. They’re burning out because they’re leaking energy everywhere, overthinking, overcommitting, absorbing emotions that aren’t theirs, and replaying the past on a loop.

Woman in all-white outfit leans against a white wall, looking thoughtful. Large, grid-like windows in the background create a serene setting.

We’ve normalized exhaustion in leadership. We glorify resilience while secretly wondering why success feels hollow. But the truth is simple. The identity that built your success may now be the very ceiling holding you back.

It’s time to RESET.

R: Rewire your narrative

Every leader lives inside a story, “I need to work harder,” I can’t slow down,” “I’m only as good as my last win.” These narratives were useful once, they pushed you to achieve. But they’re now outdated operating systems that keep you in survival mode.

Reset practice: Write down the story that’s been running you. Then ask, "What narrative do I choose instead?" (For example, from “I must control everything” to “I trust myself and my team.”)

E: Eliminate energy leaks

You’re not exhausted because you’re incapable. You’re exhausted because you’re leaking energy, spinning in indecision, saying yes on autopilot, or carrying other people’s emotions home with you.

Reset practice: Pause for 60 seconds. Hand on heart. Audible exhale. Ask yourself, "Where is my energy leaking right now, and what boundary will stop it?"

S: Simplify your routine

Leaders don’t need another 10-step morning ritual. You need one anchor habit that aligns your nervous system before the day consumes you.

Reset practice: Before you touch your phone in the morning, take three intentional breaths, hand on heart, and ask, "What do I want to feel today?" One minute, infinite return.

E: Examine relationships

Your nervous system knows the truth, some people fuel you, some drain you. Leaders often ignore this reality until their bandwidth is gone.

Reset practice: List the five people you spend the most time with. Label them, Fuel, Neutral, Drain. Then act accordingly. Prioritize fuelers, create space with neutrals, set boundaries with drainers without guilt.

T: Talk your confidence into being

Confidence isn’t built by waiting until you feel ready. It’s built by declaring who you are daily until your body believes it.

Reset practice: Speak your five-line confidence script out loud every morning. Example:

  • I don’t chase permission, I create my own.

  • Every room I enter is brighter because I’m in it.

  • My energy is my power, and I choose where it flows.

The new standard

The Reset Code is not another hustle tactic. It’s a reclamation of your leadership, your energy, your narrative, your rhythm, your relationships, your confidence.

Because the truth is, you don’t need to do more. You need to reset the system you’re running on.
