In the quiet of autumn, as acorns fall from the oak tree in my Northern California garden, I am reminded of the potential hidden within each tiny seed. Just as these acorns carry the promise of mighty oaks, so too does the experience of depression signal the growth awaiting within you. Depression is not an immovable illness, but a sign of untapped potential, urging you to reconnect with your true self. Join me in exploring how to transform this struggle into a powerful opportunity for growth and fulfillment.

“I can see the oak tree in the acorn. I see the growth, the rebuilding, the restoring.” – Maya Angelou

Fall is here. At this time of year, the old oak in our Northern California garden becomes a festival for birds and squirrels, all of which are hunting acorns. I watch the rhythm of it, coffee in hand, sitting under its shade in simple wonder. But what I really notice are the acorns. Each tiny shell holds a vast possibility. They mirror my lifelong work, decoding the mystery of depression and signaling a vast life waiting to bloom. Many see depression as an immovable illness, a condition you have to live with.

Don’t accept this. Depression is a signal for a surge of unrealized growth. It's a call to remember your truth. Depression isn't the cause of your unhappiness. It isn’t.

Your depression is the product of your fight against living an unfulfilled life. Depression is a symptom of this fight. And that’s unhealthy, and a tiring fight. Until now, it has sustained you.

So, to stop the fight and go on living, you ignore your feelings. You are paying a heavy price. You may be grappling with emotional, spiritual, or physical pain and health complications.

My ongoing LinkedIn Live sessions (streamed on LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube) aim to help rewrite your story, from “illness” to breakout energy, meaning, and growth.
