One of the biggest misconceptions I see in my practice is people’s understanding of trauma.

I find people’s beliefs fall into one of three camps. They believe:

  1. They haven’t experienced trauma

  2. Their traumas weren’t “that bad”

  3. The trauma they did experience has caused every problem they now experience

Ultimately, we have all experienced trauma. And what one person’s subconscious mind interprets as trauma, may be completely different from another’s.

But if you are looking to heal your body, business, relationships, or really any area of your life for that matter, looking at your trauma has the potential to change everything!

I’ll never forget a client I had who was struggling with her health and business. She was in her mid 40’s and had been working on trying to go full-time in her business for over a decade.

She was also seeking to mend her relationship with food, after struggling for most of her life with an eating disorder/disordered eating.

When we went back to beginning energetic trauma, she was stunned.

What her subconscious revealed to her was a scene of her at four years old, at a small shop with her mom.

While at the checkout counter she spotted a piece of candy and proceeded to ask if her mom would buy it for her.

“Do you deserve it?” Her mom said jokingly to her.

This small, seemingly harmless sarcasm, lead to a life of her questioning her deservingness.

Her deservingness of food.

Her deservingness of money.

Her deservingness to be healthy.

Her deservingness to have a thriving business.

All because of a small joke her mom made.

As we reviewed this, the woman was able to see, being now in her forties her mom’s sarcastic joke.

But as a child, we are still learning sarcasm and these variations of emotions.

As she identified this, and we cleared the energy around it, suddenly within a week she was not only attracting new clients but even also feeling more energized and content in her body with less fixation on her image and food.

All because of ONE small trauma.

I share this story to illustrate how “trauma” does not have to be sexual assault or death. I see a lot of people being hard on themselves because they haven’t experienced one of these typical “big T” traumas. But, it’s important to remember that any event one experiences that appear as negative or a threat, can be classified as trauma.

Thus, what one person’s body and mind view and takes in as a trauma, is going to be different from person to person. Each of us has our own unique lens of the world.

It is also important to point out, that the “offender”, in this case, the woman’s mom, is not always and oftentimes not ill-intentioned.

It is rather one’s interpretation of the words or actions

Thus, by simply practicing awareness and radical forgiveness, with the person and ourselves, we can be set free.

So if you are seeking to grow your business, heal your body, call in a loving relationship whatever it is for you (hey, maybe it’s all of the above!), I invite you to get curious and open up to the awareness of these seemingly insignificant traumas.

And similarly, don’t be surprised when healing one belief such as my client’s “Do I deserve” can lead to a transformation and healing in every area of your life.
