MJ Feeke, Nutritional Therapist

Can you tell us a bit about your personal journey and how you came into this work?

For years, I juggled two full-time roles, running a restaurant and working as a teacher, while also being a devoted wife and mum. Life was non-stop, and I poured everything I had into my work and family. But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of myself.

Eventually, my body began to protest. I struggled with low energy, low mood, panic attacks, and weight gain. That was my wake-up call. I knew something had to change.

Becoming a nutritional therapist felt like a natural choice. As a trained chef, I already believed in the power of food to change lives, but I hadn’t fully understood how deep that impact could go until I began studying nutrition. Around the same time, I discovered breathwork. I’d found meditation challenging, clearing my mind felt impossible, but breathwork gave me something practical to focus on. The counting techniques gave me a way in.

How would you describe your approach at MJ Nutrition, Lifestyle & Health?

My approach is deeply practical and personalised. At MJ Nutrition, we help people discover what they need to eat to improve their health and also how to actually do it.

That might mean teaching cooking skills, curating easy meal plans, or offering gut-friendly recipes for clients with restricted diets.

But it's not just about food. We support the whole person, stress, sleep, energy, digestion, hormones, and mindset. If needed, we use functional testing to get to the root of symptoms and tailor a plan that fits the individual’s real life.

What makes your work unique?

I bring together my background as a chef, teacher, and therapist, which means I don’t just tell people what to eat, I show them how to make it work. Whether we’re going through their pantry, shopping together, or working through a breathwork session, I meet people where they are.

Many of my clients are busy professionals or mums who feel completely overwhelmed. They might be struggling with digestive issues, burnout, or perimenopause symptoms. Our first step is always a discovery session where they’re fully heard. From there, we start small, just prioritising themselves is often the most powerful shift.

What results have you seen in your clients?

I’ve seen complete transformations. Clients who were constantly bloated now feel light and energized. People suffering from reflux are able to become symptom-free. Others finally get a good night’s sleep or feel their mood lift after years of fatigue.

But it’s more than physical; people start to feel hopeful again. They rediscover the motivation and will to take care of themselves. That’s the real magic.

What do you think people misunderstand most about nutrition and health?

That it has to be complicated, it doesn’t.

People often don’t realise that simple changes to diet and lifestyle can create monumental shifts in their health. Unfortunately, many don’t realise how much damage their current habits are doing until a chronic condition develops.

That’s why I’m so passionate about education, because prevention and small, consistent changes really can work wonders.

What inspires you most about the work you do?

I genuinely love what I do; it’s my dream job. I get to combine food, science, and education, and help both young people and adults learn how to look after themselves. It feels like I’ve come full circle, using all of my training and experience to empower others.

If there’s one thing you wish everyone knew about their health, what would it be?

I wish everyone knew that if they just got started, a year from now, their health could look completely different. And also, that only you can make yourself happy, so prioritise your own care. No one else can do it for you.

If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be and why?

I’d choose Julia Child. I actually just missed the chance to meet her when I was in my teens! She was such an empowering woman and a great leader who broke down so many barriers, and boy, she could cook.

Where can people connect with you or learn more about your work?

People can learn more about what I do through my website or social media. I also offer one-on-one coaching, wellness workshops, and group programs designed to help people start making real, sustainable changes.
