New Podcast for Gay Men 50+ Seeking Connection, Purpose, and Community

According to AARP's Dignity 2024 report, 78% of LGBTQ+ adults aged 45 and older are concerned about having enough support from family and friends as they age. That growing need for meaningful connection inspired the creation of The Wisdom Trust, an online community for gay men over 50, and now, The Wisdom Trust Podcast, a weekly series exploring connection, purpose, belonging, and healthy aging.

Four men smiling and chatting in a cozy café. Signs read "Where everyone is welcome" and "Coffee. Community. Connection. Pride."

Founded by wellness coach and community builder Loren Crawford, The Wisdom Trust was created in response to a growing need for spaces where older gay men can have honest conversations beyond dating apps, nightlife, and social media. Since launching its online community last month, members from across North America have joined discussions centered on friendship, emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and navigating the second half of life with greater intention.

"The conversation around aging in the gay community is often dominated by youth, appearance, and sex," said Loren Crawford, founder of The Wisdom Trust. "Many gay men over 50 are asking deeper questions about purpose, friendship, loneliness, and how they want to live the next chapter of their lives. The Wisdom Trust exists to create a place where those conversations can happen openly, honestly, and without judgment."

The newly launched podcast features thoughtful conversations with guests from diverse backgrounds, alongside solo episodes from Crawford exploring topics including:

  • Loneliness and belonging

  • Dating and intimacy after 50

  • Reinvention and purpose

  • Mental and emotional wellbeing

  • Building authentic community

  • Healthy aging and personal growth

The podcast complements The Wisdom Trust's growing online community, where members participate in live discussions, educational resources, reflective conversations, and events designed to foster genuine connection and support.

Rather than focusing on the challenges of aging alone, The Wisdom Trust encourages gay men to embrace what Crawford calls "the wisdom years", a stage of life that offers opportunities for deeper relationships, greater authenticity, and renewed purpose.
