Tatiana Goded, Motivational Life Coach

Who is Tatiana Goded? Introduce yourself, your hobbies, your favorites, you at home and in business. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I am a Motivational Life Coach and writer based in beautiful Wellington (New Zealand). I am deeply passionate about helping women find their true purpose and rediscover their passions, bringing joy back to their lives.

I am originally from Spain and have been living in New Zealand for fourteen years. New Zealand is home for me now. I fell in love with its quality of life, its beautiful nature and easy-going way of life. I am learning every day from the Kiwis who love to do it all by themselves, travel around the World and truly connect with you. It’s as if life had slowed down and there was time for reflection and connection.

I am deeply passionate about many things! First, writing, my deepest passion, which I abandoned for many years to focus on my studies. In a deep journey or self-discovery, I brought it back to my life, and I have recently published my first novel, “A trip towards the sunset”, a journey of self-discovery of 3 women in their midlife finding their true selves, with the stunning backdrops of New Zealand, Scotland, Spain and Germany. Helping bring back a passion from childhood is one of my missions now as part of my life coaching.

I also love hiking (in New Zealand we call it “tramping”). Being up in the mountains is my happy place! Travelling and catching up with friends and spending time with my family is what fills my cup, and you can regularly find me curled up in a sofa with a book in my hands.

What inspired you to found Puiaki Precious, and how did your journey lead you into life coaching, NLP, and mindfulness?

I am a scientist by training. I have worked as a scientist for twenty years. Although I loved many parts of my job (especially its creativity and passion) I missed the true connection with people. Six years ago, I went through a personal crisis, needing something else in my life. I took a course to become a life coach that transformed my life. I had a big breakthrough moment where I realized that was exactly what I wanted to do in my life. The journey to become a life coach has been full of twists and bumps, but with huge determination and commitment, here is where I am, and I am here to stay! I love helping women rediscover the core of who they are, and my passion is to help them and support them in their journey. I wished I had had that kind of support myself, and now my mission is to help other women.

Mindfulness saved my life. In a moment of deep anxiety, I encountered an 8-week programme from the wonderful Mark Williams and followed it. It brought me the clarity and self-love that I needed, and I changed direction in my life, which has finally led me to a place where I am doing what I love, and loving who I am. NLP has also been a wonderful technique to bring clarity in my life, and now I blend a technique that includes coaching, NLP and mindfulness to help women feel calm, grounded and genuinely themselves.

“Puiaki” means “precious” in Māori. Can you explain why you chose this name and how it embodies the core values of your business?

Yes. “Puiaki” means “precious” in Māori. I thought that was a beautiful way to describe each one of us. We tend to forget how special we all are. We are usually criticizing ourselves and being harsh on us. Remembering that we are a treasure is one of the key elements to bring back self-confidence and self-love to our lives. I also have 3 core values in my business – “Be free”, “Bloom” and “Keep strong”, which I explain in more detail below.

“Be free”: freedom is a virtue that every being should have by right of birth. Often, not feeling free is related to the traps that we get ourselves into and that only we can find the way out from. We tend to make ourselves excuses to not do what our heart really wants. Not enough time. Not enough money. Not the right moment. Being free means to know who you are, to understand your values and your needs, and to take responsibility for them.

“Bloom”: everyone has the knowledge and the potential to become the best they could be and to flourish, feeling everything is aligned as it should, and feeling at peace.

“Keep strong”: inner strength is the force that keeps us going. It’s driven by our inner wisdom who knows in a deeper level who we are and who we can become. Keeping close to our inner strength will help us find our purpose in life.

You focus specifically on women experiencing midlife transitions, forgotten dreams, or career reinvention. What common challenges do they come to you with, and how do you support them?

Women come to me looking for a big change in their lives. Often, they seem to have all that all of us want – a good job, a happy marriage and family, good income. However, they feel unfulfilled, as if they had left behind something meaningful in their lives. They often feel lost and wonder why they feel this way. They are usually women in their forties and fifties who are reconsidering their lives and looking back at the things they used to love that they had left behind. As women, many of them are people pleasers who have forgotten to take care of themselves since they were girls, and now they don’t know how to bring back that sense of joy and fulfilment they had when they were young.

In my coaching sessions, we first dive deep into the main aim they’d like to achieve. Often, they do not know it themselves, in which case I use several coaching techniques to understand all aspects of their lives, and see which one is the key topic which, if we work on improving it, will make a ripple effect on the rest. This is often the case, changing one part of their lives changes the entire picture. I also regularly dive deep into any limiting beliefs that may appear, as these are usually the ones that are holding them back from fulfilling their goals. Often, these deep exercises bring profound breakthrough moments, where the client understands at a deep level what thoughts they have been telling themselves all their lives, where they come from and what they have been causing in their adults’ journey. Once these have been identified, we work on questioning them and turning them around, bringing a completely different perspective to their lives. Mindset and inner beliefs are key for long-term transformation, and I have seen this happening over and over again with my clients. Once deep transformation has been happening, it’s easier to work on a more surface level on planning towards fulfilling their goals, bringing back joy and fulfilment to their lives.

What is the transformation you most often witness in your clients, from their first session to where they end up?

The majority of my clients know what they want, but they come to me feeling lost, stuck and anxious. I help them bring clarity to their lives, their goals and their situations. Often, the changes in their limiting beliefs cause profound transformations in my clients, who start taking action towards fulfilling their dreams. This causes a ripple effect in their lives, improving their sense of joy and fulfilment, their relationships and their quality of life. Seeing my clients go through this transformation process before my eyes is a wonderful experience. They often thank be profusely, and I keep reminding them I have been there to support them, but they are the ones who always had the key to their paths within themselves.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

Well, I actually have more than one pivotal moment. But I will explain two of them, the moment I realised life coaching was what I wanted to pursue in my life, what filled my cup, and most importantly, the passion I felt about helping other women rediscover their true selves and their passions, as I had discovered mine. That moment was a true pivotal time in my life.

Second, after many tries and setbacks, one day I told myself I would never stop writing. I loved it and it brought me so much joy. Why would I stop? That day, I put my passion for writing on top of my list, breaking with my people pleasing tendencies, and prioritizing my joy. Since then, I fill my cup every day and give from the overflow, a concept that since I heard of it has blown my mind away. It is so profound and wise it makes me cry. One of my missions is to support women to find their ways to fill their cups until they overflow, and be able to give to themselves and others, in a never-ending process of abundance, joy and fulfilment.
