Think about motivated people - the more driven they are, the more successful they become. Motivation plays a crucial role in the productivity, performance, speed, and quality of work. If you’re motivated, you’ll be sure of your ability to conquer whatever obstacles or barriers lie ahead.

motivation

The question is not really about if someone is motivated or not. It is about their “why.” What is it that motivates them, and why?

A why usually comes from a personal story. Our stories often relate to people or us in our lives feeling vulnerable and lost or facing health crises. It’s the way we personify our life purpose, which is bigger than motivation as it is a “must-do” rather than a “want to do.”

Motivation reflects something special about each individual and allows us to gain valuable outcomes such as better performance, personal growth, a sense of purpose, and improved well-being. It’s a pathway to change our way of thinking, feeling, and behaving.

Motivation is crucial because it helps us be creative, develop competencies, grow interests, set goals, develop talents, change behavior, make plans, and boost engagement.

Here are 3 ways to increase motivation:

  1. Increase your energy level Energy is a huge motivator and produces continual growth. If we’re excited about something, we’re very motivated and feel like nothing can stop us from moving forward. Daily physical activities and good quality sleep are the best ways to increase your energy levels.

  2. Improve your productivity Being productive doesn’t mean being busy. You have to be smart with the time and energy that you put into your daily tasks. Set priorities and focus on the tasks that will give you a big push forward rather than on those that are just “good to have.” Eliminate activities that you do not enjoy doing or maybe not good at and delegate where possible to maximize your time and focus your energy on achieving your big goals.

  3. Celebrate your wins and achievements When we solve issues and problems and achieve results, we feel excited and happy. Celebrating wins and achievements helps to train your brain that what you’re doing is exciting and important. You’ll feel more satisfied, fulfilled, and motivated to keep going forward towards higher results and bigger achievements. Make sure you celebrate these achievements, even if they are very small.

Unfortunately, motivation is not permanent. Some days will be better than others. On those days when you don’t feel motivated, take a break, think about your “why,” and get back on track the next day.
