New York, NY — MaternityWise International is proud to announce that its acclaimed Doula Trainer Certification Program is now available to qualified professionals worldwide, marking an exciting new chapter in the organization's mission to improve maternal and infant health through education, leadership, and community-based support.

Two women talk on a couch in a bright office lounge, one holding a phone, with potted plants by the window.

For more than two decades, MaternityWise International has educated doulas who serve families across diverse communities. By expanding its Doula Trainer Certification Program internationally, the organization is empowering experienced birth professionals to become educators, mentors, and advocates within their own countries, cultures, and healthcare systems.

"Our vision has always extended far beyond borders," said Anne Wallen, Founder and Director of MaternityWise International. "Every family deserves compassionate, evidence-informed support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. By training educators around the world, we are multiplying that impact exponentially."

The Doula Trainer Certification Program prepares experienced doulas and maternal health professionals to confidently teach future doulas using MaternityWise's comprehensive curriculum. Participants receive advanced instruction in:

  • Adult education principles and teaching methodology

  • Curriculum delivery and classroom facilitation

  • Student mentorship and evaluation

  • Professional ethics and leadership

  • Cultural humility and respectful maternity care

  • Business development and program implementation

Graduates are equipped to establish training programs in their own communities while maintaining the educational excellence and integrity that have become synonymous with the MaternityWise name.

Recognizing that birth practices, healthcare systems, and cultural traditions vary throughout the world, MaternityWise encourages trainers to present educational content in ways that honor local customs while remaining grounded in current evidence, respectful communication, and the physiological processes of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.

The expansion comes at a time when many countries are investing in maternal health initiatives and seeking innovative ways to improve birth outcomes. Research continues to demonstrate that doula support is associated with higher satisfaction, improved birth experiences, increased breastfeeding success, and reduced rates of unnecessary interventions. By preparing educators rather than training only individual doulas, MaternityWise aims to create sustainable growth in the availability of professional birth support worldwide.

International students will have access to MaternityWise's flexible hybrid educational model, combining online coursework with mentorship, practical teaching experiences, and ongoing professional support. Graduates become part of an international network of educators dedicated to raising standards, expanding access to quality doula education, and strengthening maternal health in their regions.

"We believe knowledge should be shared generously," Wallen added. "Our goal is not simply to certify trainers, but to cultivate leaders who will inspire confidence, elevate professional standards, and create lasting change for mothers, babies, and families around the globe."

As the organization continues its international expansion, MaternityWise is actively seeking partnerships with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, community leaders, ministries of health, and maternal wellness advocates interested in bringing professional doula education to their regions.

Professionals with experience in birth work, midwifery, nursing, childbirth education, lactation support, or related maternal health fields are encouraged to apply.
