I have always been shocked by hypocrisy. In my early naivete, I always took people at their word. I believed that they would do what they said. I believed they would tell me the truth. I believed that people always had the best intentions.

Part of me still believes. But life has taught me differently. Let's just say that I will always want to give you the benefit of the doubt but the moment I see evidence of incongruencies with your words and actions, my flags are up.

There are many places where hypocrisy runs rampant. Two major ones cause most of the violence we are seeing today. One is politics and the other is religion. Two subjects people warn you about discussing if you want to keep your friends and not cause conflict. Here, in the United States, we are free to discuss whatever we want without being arrested. It's acting on some of that nonsense that will get you in trouble. But talking about it is free.

Power, ego, narcissism, and righteousness rule in politics and religion. Witnessing all of these emotions in action makes me sick. Especially in religion. You expect it in politics. Hey, it's the very definition of politics in my opinion.

It's the righteous, religious zealots that are the most dangerous. You know the ones who don't want the government to force them to have a vaccine but want the government to force them to keep a dangerous or unwanted pregnancy. Does anyone with any common sense not see the hypocrisy here? Government, don't tell me what I can put in my body but tell others who don't believe as I believe, what they can do with what's in their bodies.

Now, let's be clear. Pro-choice, does not mean pro-abortion. Just like me choosing to get a covid vaccine means that my choice should be your choice. We are promised freedom of choice in this country. You can choose to smoke cigarettes if you'd like. Smoking cigarettes puts your health and the health of those around you in danger. But, I'm pro-choice, and if you choose to make yourself and those inhaling your second-hand smoke sick, and put unnecessary burdens on our already taxed health-care system, and your families, then, go on with your bad self. It's your choice. Not one I would make for myself, but certainly, one that you get to make for yourself.

Let me ask you this. Should insurance companies, doctors, nurses, and your families refuse to care for your lung cancer, COPD, emphysema, and other smoking-related illnesses because you were warned of the potential consequences of your choice to smoke and you chose to smoke anyway?

But most righteous, religious folks (not all religious folks, just those special ones who know god so intimately that they have been anointed, personally, to make sure that everyone believes in the same god that they do) will want our government to punish, jail, or sanction in some way, anyone who helps a woman who desires an abortion, because, get this, she knew that having unprotected sex could lead to a pregnancy. It's not the child's fault so now, because SHE, made a poor choice, she should be forced to have her body bring a pregnancy to full-term.

Here's an actual quote from a righteous person of God that gave me the fuel to write this:

"If women want responsibility for their bodies, then perhaps we should begin by being responsible for who we allow in us and the potential consequences of those choices. And if you're mad that men don't have to worry about such consequences then take it up with God because he gave us this blessing. Yes, I said blessing."

Righteous. Blame. Shame. Guilt. That's the hypocrisy of religious folks. Why don't you let folks take it up with their god and not with you or your God. We can still choose how we worship and what we believe, right?

Wasn't this country stolen by those fleeing religious persecution? Didn't they want the freedom to choose how to worship? Isn't that why they came here, stole this land, and stripped others of their right to worship freely?

Yeah, hypocrisy, is the core belief of righteous religion.
