How to Trust Your Decisions Without Overthinking or Second-Guessing Yourself

Have you ever found yourself replaying “what-if” scenarios, worrying about what other people will think, or wondering if you made the right choice? As a business owner and coach for wellness entrepreneurs, I’ve learned that making decisions quickly and confidently does not necessarily require a better strategy or more information. It requires a calm nervous system and strong trust.

When I first started my business, I was overwhelmed by the number of decisions I needed to make, including branding, offerings, and pricing. I was operating from a constant state of stress and pressure, which made it more difficult to find clarity. I’d spend time and energy replaying different options or questioning whether I had made the right choice. I noticed my clients also experienced this pattern.


I knew I needed to get out of this cycle so I could make decisions from a calm and clear place and help my clients do the same. So I created a quick and effective mini-training using my R.O.O.T. method framework to help people move forward without overthinking or second-guessing.


Using the steps in this training, I have been able to discern aligned opportunities, focus my offerings, and 10x my income. Now, I’m excited to share these steps with you.


3 steps to making more intuitive decisions with ease


1. Reset your nervous system


When everything feels like it’s on fire and your nervous system is dysregulated, it’s really hard to access your intuition and make decisions clearly.


I often hear people use the terms “gut reaction” and “intuition” interchangeably, but it’s important to make a distinction here. The gut response is driven by the nervous system. And when your nervous system is in “fight or flight” mode, your decisions may be based on scarcity, what you feel is lacking, or fear of the unknown, which may be keeping you stuck.


In contrast, your intuition is the inner knowing that guides you toward your soul’s purpose. This path may feel less comfortable or even scary if it is unfamiliar. But when you regulate and calm the nervous system, you can access that inner voice and make decisions without the discomfort or fear holding you back.


Focusing on your breath and lengthening your exhale can help reset your nervous system. A technique I often share with my clients involves inhaling for a count of four and exhaling for a count of eight. This helps slow down your thoughts and get you out of “fight or flight” mode.



2. Observe where you are leaking energy


After you’ve calmed your nervous system, you can become more aware of your energy leaks. An energy leak is anything that drains your time or energy without helping you achieve your goals or desired state. This could include replaying scenarios over and over in your head before making a decision or questioning yourself afterward.


Once you realize you are caught in a thought loop, you can interrupt the thought to break the pattern. I like to incorporate a tangible action, like snapping, clapping, or saying “stop” out loud. In the beginning, you may need to interrupt the thought multiple times a day, but over time, that voice will become quieter and less frequent. After you’ve interrupted the thought, you can ask yourself whether it is being driven by fear or scarcity.



3. Trust your intuition


Now that you’ve identified whether fear or scarcity is present, you can strengthen your intuitive voice and trust that it will guide you.


Take a moment to think of an affirmation you can use to immediately replace fear with trust. For example, “I trust myself to do what it takes” or “I trust everything is working out for me.”


Then, find evidence in past situations or through other people’s experiences to help support and strengthen your affirmations. This will help you move forward with clarity and ease.
