You are unhappy with your job and career. You are ready for a change you just don’t know what that will be. You don’t want to go back to school for another degree. So, what do you do?

You have everything within you for your next career. You have knowledge, confidence, and experiences that will translate into many other careers.

You just need to open your mind to the possibilities. That can be hard to do on your own.

It all starts with knowing your skills.

I know you have skills that you can translate to other careers. I am sure you have a “superpower’ you do not honor because it comes so easily to you.

In the past, I took my skills for granted. I didn’t realize I was an excellent baker until I tried other people’s baking. I didn’t realize I was a great planner until I let someone else plan something for me.

I am sure you have many “superpowers.” There will be things you are good at that you don’t necessarily love. And there are things you love to do that you don’t realize are special.

The way to find your next career is to look within yourself. Take time to make lists of your skills, your accomplishments, your thoughts about work, your dreams, and your hopes for the future.

As kids, we are asked many times about what we want to be when we grow up. I think that is the wrong question.

The questions we need to start with are:

How do you want to live?

Where do you want to live?

What is important to you and your life?

With direction, you can live the life you want. It all starts with knowing what you want out of life and out of your career.

How would your life change if you loved your career?
