How many videos does the average person watch per day on TikTok?

Between 100 and 300.

That is a lot of content! How do you stand out and get people to watch your videos? Even better, how do you expand your audience organically and get people to share your videos?

In this article, I want to share my tips for creating sharable videos. Of course, if you want to learn more about how to leverage TikTok for your business and expand your reach, join our next TikTok for Business workshop.

We cover everything from getting your audience's attention (no dancing required!) to turning followers into clients!

But first...

Why focus on sharable content?

Basically, TikTok loves when people share your content. When your video gets shared, it is telling TikTok and its algorithm that what you have is valuable and high quality. Therefore, the algorithm gives your video a little boost each time it is shared.

This means that your video has a better chance of being seen by new people, which can help you expand your reach and grow your following.

Here are my top tips for creating shareable content on TikTok.

Share valuable content

How do you make your audience stop scrolling and start watching?

Give them value. The most sharable videos are either educational or belief-shifting. Educational videos teach your audience something new or provide valuable information. For example, tips and tricks, or behind-the-scenes footage are all great options.

On the other hand, belief-shifting videos challenge your audience's perspectives and make them think about things in a new way. These videos should guide your prospect and lead them to dismantle limiting beliefs that prevent them from investing in your service and products.

Keep it short and sweet

Your videos need to be digestible and not overly packed with information. People do not watch or share videos that make them feel overwhelmed.

The average attention span is shorter than ever, so it's important to make your videos as concise as possible. Keep them under 60 seconds, with the sweet spot being around 30 seconds. This may seem like a challenge, but you can do it!

Choose one main point per video you're not there to share your entire life story (yet). Think of it this way your audience is asking for a glass of water. Don't give it to them using a fire hose!

Make it visually appealing

People are visual creatures, so make sure your videos are as well! For a video to be sharable, it has to first be watchable.

Use text (since most of us are watching with the sound off) but keep it minimal no one wants to read a novel on their screen.

A few more tips to make your videos look good.

  • Use a higher-pixel camera

  • Make sure you're well-lit

  • Film during the day (you'll have better lighting)

  • Remove HDR settings (TikTok cannot support it yet)

Shareable content is not about you!

Even if you had great quality, the length was on point, your video is not going to get shared unless you show how it benefits your audience at a single glance! Use "you / your" language, and not "I/me" language.

Talk directly to your audience and let them know what they're going to get out of your content. Promise them value, and then make sure you deliver on that promise.

Tell them!

Sometimes, it's good to remind your audience to share! For example, "Know an entrepreneur who (has pain point or challenge)? Send them this video!"

A gentle reminder to share can be effective, especially if you've already provided value in your video.

Take Your Videos to the Next Level

Creating sharable content is just one way to leverage your social media to turn your audience into your ardent fans, customers, and advocates. If you want to learn more about how to use TikTok to convert more followers to clients, join my upcoming workshop on July 20.
