The fear of missing out. I know this by heart. I can sniff it from a mile.

It's one of those powerful fears that drive our actions.

It comfortably sits at the root of all clutter, a busy schedule, and at the core of exhaustion.

It forces us in all directions, chasing every possible idea.

What if I am missing a great opportunity?!?

The Fear of Missing Out blurs our priorities, robs us of moments of peace, and keeps us chasing and chasing around.

And even worse, it's so damn hard to recognize it.

Because we all think we need to be present in all possible ways, we need to stay active and connected at all times and be highly informed.

I mean, that's how you run and grow a business in a fast-paced world, right?

What if there is a better way?

It's the question I asked myself a few years ago when I was running myself in the ground trying to make things work in my business.

At that time, I was trying hard to keep up with everyone else, defining success by other people's metrics and comparing myself to them.

I felt that I wasn't good enough, I was questioning my every move, and I was always afraid that I might miss valuable information or important events if I was not present.

Until I snapped. I couldn't take it anymore, and I decided to jump off this crazy merry-go-round of chasing every fad on the Internet.

I went back to the drawing board and started over from scratch.

Inching my way forward, I realized that when you choose to focus on what's most important to you and decide to structure your business carefully around your vision, you become a FOMO-beating machine.

And guess what? When you put your vision and your heart at the center of your actions, everything else falls into place:

  • You never have to check what others are doing.

  • You never have to worry that you are on the wrong path.

  • You never chase a ton of moving pieces that seems never to fit together.

  • It's easy to filter out all the temptations that would derail your plans.

The secret is in choosing SIMPLICITY and CLARITY when you run and grow your business. The secret is to detach from the noise and build your business from the inside out.

  • Know your vision well. This is the most critical step in beating FOMO. The FOMO-creating moments creep in when you don't know what you are trying to build.

  • Be present in your priorities and own who you are. What matters to you? Define it. Know yourself, know your business, and do more of what matters to you most for maximum results.

  • Be present in the current moment, not the next one. If you are afraid of missing out, you will be present in your future or other people's scenarios and totally miss where you are right now. Conducting your business by living in an imaginary future is how you end up glossing over what needs to be done now and the real reason you end up missing what moves the needle.

  • Create your own framework for success. Your business is unique, don’t accept any one-size-fits all solutions. Don't let other people define who you should be, what success means, and how you should build your business.

  • Be consistent, not busy. Be consistent in the activities that matter most to moving your business forward and cut everything else out. Focus on being productive with a purpose each day instead of just busy, because it's hard to be productive when you are too tired or confused and overwhelmed.

  • Keep your eye on the prize. Set goals that are clearly aligned with the big vision, develop a plan to follow, but stay flexible and take time to review your goals and adjust the path. Stop chasing trends. Instead, get ahead of the curve by creating your own trend.
