Christopher Mickey is a self-made entrepreneur whose career spans the restaurant industry, real estate, and now HVAC services. Based in New Port Richey, Florida, Christopher’s journey began at just 21 years old when he bought his first Westshore Pizza franchise. Under his leadership, it became the second-best performing location in the chain within just three years.

After selling his restaurant holdings at age 25, he transitioned into real estate. Over the next 17 years, he and his wife flipped more than 545 homes. This hands-on work exposed him to a range of property challenges, including a major one—unreliable HVAC services.
Frustrated by delays and poor-quality work during his property flips, Christopher saw an opportunity. He launched Airheads HVAC to provide dependable, efficient, and smart heating and cooling solutions to homeowners and investors alike.
Today, he leads a growing company focused on quality service, energy efficiency, and community care. After Hurricane Helene, for example, his team offered discounted HVAC services to families in need. He’s also a regular donor to local schools and charities.
Christopher believes that innovation and customer service go hand in hand. He’s passionate about smart home technology, sustainability, and doing right by the communities he serves. From pizza ovens to rooftop condensers, his career proves that with grit and adaptability, success comes through solving real-world problems.
From Pizza Ovens to HVAC Units: A Conversation with Christopher Mickey
Christopher, how did your journey into entrepreneurship begin?
It started when I was 21. I bought a failing Westshore Pizza franchise in Florida. It wasn’t fancy, but I learned a lot about hard work, managing people, and giving customers what they actually want. Within three years, we turned it into one of the top-performing stores.
That’s a huge shift from pizza to HVAC. What happened in between?
After selling the restaurant, my wife and I got into flipping houses. We ended up doing over 545 homes in 17 years. Each project taught us something new. But HVAC problems kept slowing us down. Poor service, missed deadlines, equipment issues—you name it.
Was that the moment you thought of starting Airheads HVAC?
Exactly. We saw the same HVAC issues come up again and again. So I said, why not fix the problem ourselves? That’s how Airheads started. We wanted to provide fast, reliable, and energy-efficient service.
What makes your HVAC business different?
We treat each job like it’s our own home. I think our experience in real estate gives us an edge. We know how much bad HVAC can affect a sale or a renovation. We also focus on smart technology. Things like smart thermostats, zoning, and high-efficiency systems.
What kind of technology are you most excited about?
Smart thermostats are a game-changer. They give people better control and cut down energy costs. Our team also works with energy-efficient systems that lower monthly bills and help the environment.
You’ve also done community work. Can you share more?
After Hurricane Helene, we helped families who had no air conditioning. Some got free services, others big discounts. When you have the skills and the tools, it’s your job to help where you can. We also donate to local schools and sponsor kids’ baseball teams.
Looking back, what advice would you give to someone starting their own business?
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. It won’t come. Start now. Learn along the way. And most of all—listen to your customers. They’ll tell you what they need if you pay attention.
What’s next for you and Airheads HVAC?
We’re expanding. More trucks, more technicians, more training. But we’re doing it the right way—slow and steady. Quality always comes first.
Any final thoughts for readers in places like London?
Energy costs are rising everywhere. London homeowners, like anyone, can benefit from better HVAC systems. I’d say focus on maintenance, smart upgrades, and trusted service. Whether you’re in Florida or the UK, the basics stay the same—comfort, efficiency, and doing the job right.
