Ferrari Unveils €390,000 Petrol-Powered SUV

Ferrari has revealed its new four-door, four-seat Purosangue - or Thoroughbred - a petrol SUV capable of speeds of more than 310 kph (190 mph).

Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera told reporters at the company’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy that the interest in the car had been so high that some customers have pre-ordered without actually seeing the model.

It is the first SUV from Ferrari - and one of the world’s most expensive - up there with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV. Reuters reports that Ferrari is planning to make owners an exclusive club: “...Ferrari has pledged to keep Purosangue sales below 20 percent of total group shipments over the car's life-cycle, which is expected to be four-to-five years, as for its other models. That means an expected total production of just over 11,000 vehicles…”

The car’s launch comes after four years of waiting and models will start appearing on the roads in the second quarter of 2023. Ferrari’s first fully-electric car is expected in 2025.
