Marcie Walker, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCHt)

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

I am a single mom with a 23-year-old son and three dogs. I enjoy gardening with the goal of having 90% of my yard be edible or for medicinal use. I love connecting with nature, cooking healthy meals, and I am also a Hula Hoop instructor, retired class 5 river guide, and former CFO. Lastly, I am the Reno Chapter Director of the POWHer of WE (Women Entrepreneurs)

I am passionate about connecting with and helping individuals get to the root cause of an issue and truly heal. I don’t want anyone to ever feel the way I have alone, misunderstood, nowhere to turn, unsupported, undervalued, with a calling to be better, and don’t know where to start.

What is your business name and how do you help your clients?

My company name is Marcie Walker, LLC A woman-owned business founded in 2016, Marcie Walker LLC focuses on holistic wellness through brain-based coaching and body-centered hypnotherapy. As a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Certified Executive Leadership and Development Coach, I help people own their circumstances and take control of their lives by providing practical tools to relieve stress, stop suffering, and find solutions. With specialties in therapeutic imagery, trauma resolution, and hypnosis for immune disorders, I use hypnosis to help change lifestyles, reset stress hormones, and improve focus. I also work with executives and leaders to create and cultivate cultures that address the physiological and psychological needs of their teams.

In particular, I really love helping highly competent women thrive in workplaces and businesses. This is more challenging than it may seem. They often feel trapped because they become really good at a wide variety of skills, and because they’re so good people feel threatened by them. This can lead them to feel really undervalued for all that they do.

What kind of audience do you target your business towards?

The individuals that are drawn to work with me, start their journey…

  1. Feeling stuck and they know something needs to shift in their life.

  2. Seeing where their life is heading and do not like it.

  3. Asking: “How do I become the best version of myself?”.

  4. Have a longing to create a meaningful and purposeful life.

  5. Have unactualized goals, dreams, and desires? And beat themself up because they haven't achieved them.

The individuals I coach are bright, highly competent, and are ready to make changes that will enhance all areas of their lives and their effectiveness as a leader. No vision is too big.

As a former CFO of a large construction company and someone who struggled with a stress-related illness for 10 years, I understand workplace stress and burnout. Our online programs are created with everyone from the busy and stressed executive to the first-time manager and the overworked HR professional in mind. Therefore, I carefully crafted my online program to support individuals experiencing the same difficulties.

What would you like to achieve for yourself and your business in the future?

This question reminds me of two quotes that drive me and my business.

“A woman with a vision empowers an empire of women to do more. See more. And be more.”

“An empire is an operating system, a way of living that sets your purpose, morals, goals, and values at the highest possible level, so that everything else in your life, from your career to the way you raise your kids, to the way you show up in your marriage, follows suit. It’s based on the principle of self-governance and allows you to learn, to grow, and hold your ground in the best and worst of economic times.”

I would love to see a lot more high contributing women leading happier, healthier lives. And being recognized for all they do at home and work.

Who inspires you to be the best that you can be?

Seeing my clients step into their power, own their circumstances, and change their “stories” is definitely inspirational. I also find inspiration in watching my son follow his passions that align with his values and achieve his goals. Lastly, connecting with the sisterhood of POWHer of WE leaves me feeling inspired.

What is your work inspired by?

The body-centered clinical hypnotherapy is based on the work of Dr. Donna Hamilton and Bud James of New Vistas International. They created the P-A-U-S-E Model, which is a proven framework to support clients resolve trauma and create sustainable change. My work is also inspired by the work of Dr. Sue Morter, Anodea Judith, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Alberto Villoldo Ph.D., and Dr. Peter Levine.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

To me, every client that walks into my office walks away with an “ah-ha” moment that they can immediately integrate into their daily lives, and get the results they want to transform their lives. It’s in those moments I feel my greatest career achievement.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

My story began with a high-stress family: a high-achieving father and a perfectionist mother, from a long line of women who didn’t express how they felt unless it was a hysterical outburst. As a result, I’m a recovering people pleaser, high achiever with OCD, and anxiety disorder. During my youth I learned to fly under the radar, to be seen and not heard, and that I am only lovable if I am “doing” things or caretaking for others.

My story includes messy and painful blunders, a few physical near-death experiences, bridges burned, “what was I thinking?” moments, and the top 10 most fantastic mess-ups of my life. Most importantly, I realized my life’s work has been created from my cellular and sometimes cosmic AH-HA moments.

My entire life has been training me to be of service to others. If I wasn’t enrolled in a course or certification to figure out how to feel better, I would be struggling with my own physical health and emotional wellness. It was the perfect practice to integrate what I learned from my training and certifications. During my journey through this earthly “finishing school,” I’ve faced food allergies, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, failed relationships, thoughts of suicide, a dead-end career, failed attempts to start businesses, struggles to keep my business going, and finally a myriad of medical diagnoses for a mystery illness ranging from adrenal fatigue, Polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, skin cancer, metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes, Hashimoto’s, and so much more. I am open with clients and share my personal experiences only to be able to help others realize they are not alone and help them solve issues as I’ve learned to solve some of mine.

I’ve spent decades researching, reading, digging, and turning over every rock I could find to discover what was wrong with me. Seeking professionals to help me figure out my insomnia, depression, and anxiety, I started ignoring my body and what it was trying to tell me. The chronic stress and inflammation were killing me. While I’m not a doctor, I have spent decades as a researcher and my own medical advocate. I’ve realized that I needed all that pain, frustration, pressure, and anxiety to wake up and say: “Enough is enough! Stop creating your suffering.”

I am so grateful for my journey, with all its ups and downs. My experiences and my teachers along the way have been a catalyst for change. I learned that I am resilient, strong, and adaptable to change. I believe that if I can recreate my life by realigning my story with my soul’s purpose,

SO CAN ANYONE!
