We recently caught up with Deborah Lynch for an insightful interview about her business, her advice for new entrepreneurs, her thoughts on the Great Resignation, and a whole lot more!

Despite the name, Instant Wings didn’t happen overnight. Can you tell us a little bit more about how you got here?

Of course! I think it’s important for people to understand that it never matters where you’ve started from, so long as you maintain a crystal-clear vision of where you’re going.

If you rewind the tape of my life far enough, you’ll find I was once homeless and completely unsure of what to do to get where I wanted to be.

That’s exactly why I emphasize so heavily the importance of stepping into your inner confidence or as I like to call it, “superpower presence.” With it, even the most insurmountable life challenges will be dissolved away on your journey.

But without it, you may find yourself spinning in circles, never quite finding yourself where you know deep down you should be.

You’ve been in the personal development space for some time now.

How do you think the on-demand and accessible nature of social media has impacted the way entrepreneurs operate?

I think social media can be a very double-edged sword at times. Many people make the mistake of viewing social media as a sort of unrealistic fantasy land and they become overwhelmed and think, “I can’t achieve that, I’ll never have millions of followers because I’m not famous.”

But the truth is, it’s more of a great equalizer. Everyone on social media has the same tools you do – an account, a bio, pictures – and they have to use those same tools to achieve their goals.

It’s also an incredible opportunity to reach and contact those people who you never would have been able to interact with before social media. So, there are some huge positives about social media as well.

I think the positive aspects far outweigh the negative, especially if you know how to use social media to amplify your presence. Social media is a tool and your ability to wield it productively really boils down to you. And let’s face it your very best superpower is no one can be you!

What do you think about “The Great Resignation” and the flood of new entrepreneurs we’re seeing on social media now?

I think it’s inspiring. Now, we have a situation where people are no longer accepting that they have to work from 9 to 5 anymore – where people like you and me are doing what we love for a living…

And I’m constantly inspired by the countless people out there trying to make their dreams A reality. And social media is a key aspect of that, especially in the wake of Covid.

Physical events have taken a major hit, but virtual events have taken off in unforeseen ways and I think it opens up a whole new world of opportunities for anyone who knows how to use their presence to build their business.

Social media is where EVERYONE needs to build their presence now. Whether it’s YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, or even coming from having a massive offline presence – today’s smart entrepreneurs recognize that having a social media presence is like air to any business – without it, it’s very difficult to survive and thrive.

Can you be successful without it? yes of course, for instance, if you’re a coach who just wants clients, all you need is your network! but if you want to build a brand, be a speaker, an influencer /coach, serve at a higher level, then you need to take social media, content, and personal presence seriously.

What would you say are the biggest mistakes people make when building an online or even offline presence?

Well, I think it comes down to one thing: authenticity.

The truth is that consumers and potential clients can smell inauthentic messaging from miles away, even in the world of social media.

For example, if I’ve visited someone’s profile who says they are a motivational speaker and I see nothing more than reposted inspirational quotes that have been done a million times over, that’s a good indication this person hasn’t yet found their voice.

Or I see a corporate trainer who jumped on social media selling skincare for a major brand with their washing in the background then I ask you:

Why should your audience trust you or your brand to help them?

I think it’s also essential that people leverage all of the media tools available to them when telling a compelling story.

Are you relying solely on imagery? Or are you engaging your audience with all of their senses, audio snippets, video reels, and everything in between?

Online, the creative possibilities are endless, and the more people can tap into that, the more successful they’ll become.

How does that mirror your approach in your own coaching business?

When I created Instant Wings, I did it to help inspire individuals to discover their inner power, so they can take flight into the next chapter of their life with confidence.

In other words, I’m not the kind of coach who wants you to keep coming back to me again and again. My mission is to give you the tools you need to live a more authentic, aligned life, both personally and professionally.

Of course, this all starts with you.

Before you can take any steps towards growing your business, you have to first have a firm understanding of the strengths that you bring to the table and that’s where I’ve found most of us are struggling.

Through my free videos and my social media accounts, and of course the coaching and courses I offer, Instant Wings not only gives entrepreneurs the tools to express their million-dollar ideas in a way that generates consistent growth…

But everything I do is to guide you through the process of uncovering those hidden gifts that have been within you all along, just waiting for the chance to be seen.

It’s been my experience when people mix the know-how of how to build a presence with the self-knowledge of what they want to say, it creates “Instant Wings” in their business and their life.

It’s not just professional, and it’s not just personal. They will enjoy a greater, more fulfilling Presence in every aspect of their lives.

And that’s why I truly believe: your presence makes ALL the difference.
