Catherine Gomersall, Artist Coach

Catherine, you've had such a diverse career journey. Tell us about the pivotal moment that brought you to where you are today.

The pivotal moment came when I realized I was living in a constant state of creative tension, being told I was "too sensitive" while simultaneously being drawn to help others express their authentic voices. I had built expertise across so many creative and technical fields, but I was scattered, trying to be everything to everyone.

The breakthrough occurred when I began working with AI tools and discovered that they could amplify human creativity rather than replace it. I saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between technology and authentic expression, helping other sensitive, creative professionals who were struggling with the same overwhelm I had experienced. That's when everything clicked - I could use my diverse background to create systems for both efficiency and authenticity.

What inspired you to create Catherine Gomersall Studio and your unique approach to business operations?

I created the studio because I kept meeting brilliant, passionate professionals who were burning out from trying to grow their businesses using strategies that felt misaligned with their values.

They were either rejecting helpful technology entirely or using it in ways that stripped away their personality and authenticity.

I realized there was a massive gap in the market for someone who could help integrate creativity with systems, who understood both the technical capabilities and the human need for meaningful expression. My approach is built on the belief that you don't have to choose between authenticity and growth, and you can have both when you design systems that amplify rather than suppress your unique voice.

Can you tell us about your Story Forge platform and how it serves your mission?

Story Forge emerged from my recognition that everyone has stories worth telling, but not everyone has access to the tools and guidance needed to develop those stories effectively. The platform is designed for anyone with a story to tell who dreams of publishing a book, because while everyone has great ideas, not everyone has the opportunity to grow them into great stories.

What makes Story Forge special is that it combines creative development with practical publishing guidance. It's not just about writing; it's about understanding narrative structure, developing your unique voice, and navigating the path to publication. This platform represents my commitment to democratizing creative expression while maintaining high standards for storytelling craft.

Your Ethical AI Lab sounds fascinating. What specific goals does this program aim to achieve?

The Ethical AI Lab is my response to the wild west atmosphere surrounding AI adoption in business. I'm seeing too many entrepreneurs either completely avoiding AI out of fear or jumping in without considering the ethical implications and brand alignment issues.

The Lab is a program designed for founders, freelancers, and business owners who want to scale their businesses with integrity and ease. We focus on three core areas: understanding how to integrate AI tools in ways that enhance rather than replace human creativity, developing ethical frameworks for AI use that align with your values, and creating systems that are not only effective but also enjoyable to use and maintain.

The goal is to help conscious entrepreneurs become early adopters of beneficial AI while avoiding the pitfalls of unconscious implementation. I aim to demonstrate that it is possible to be both innovative and ethical.

You have an upcoming book. What can you tell us about it, and what readers can expect?

The book is the culmination of everything I've learned about building a sustainable and authentic business in the digital age. Without giving too much away, it addresses the core challenges I see repeatedly: the myth that you have to choose between success and authenticity, the overwhelm that comes from trying to implement every new tool and strategy, and the specific needs of sensitive, creative people trying to thrive in business.

Readers can expect practical frameworks alongside deeper insights about creativity, technology, and conscious entrepreneurship. It's written for individuals who want to expand their impact without compromising their values. It’s for those who recognize that our sensitivity and creativity are, in fact, our superpowers when properly harnessed.

What sets your approach apart from other business consultants or AI experts in the industry?

Most business consultants focus purely on strategy and systems, while AI experts focus on technical implementation. I'm uniquely positioned at the intersection of creativity, technology, and conscious business practices. I understand both the technical capabilities and the emotional journey of creative entrepreneurs.

My background spanning photography, web development, art direction, blockchain consulting, and book publishing means I've actually walked the path my clients are on. I've experienced the creative struggles, the technical challenges, and the business growth phases they're navigating. Plus, my recognition as a Brainz Executive Contributor and recipient of the Crea Global Award validates that this approach works.

What really sets me apart is my commitment to ethical implementation. I'm not interested in helping people automate their way out of authenticity. I'm here to help them amplify their authentic voice through intelligent use of technology.

For readers inspired by this conversation, what first steps would you recommend for someone wanting to integrate ethical AI into their creative business?

Start with clarity about your values and brand voice before you touch any AI tool. Ask yourself: What makes my work uniquely mine? What do I never want to compromise on? Once you have that foundation, begin experimenting with AI as a collaborative partner, not a replacement.

I recommend starting small and perhaps using AI for research or brainstorming, then gradually expanding as you learn how to maintain your voice while leveraging the technology. Most importantly, stay connected to your human community. AI should enhance your ability to serve real people, not distance you from them.

And if you're feeling overwhelmed by the pace of change, remember that you don't have to implement everything at once. The most successful integration happens when you move thoughtfully and strategically.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?

I envision myself as having helped thousands of creative entrepreneurs build businesses that not only look good from the outside but also feel as good as they appear. I envision the Ethical AI Lab becoming a recognized standard for the integration of conscious technology, and Story Forge supporting countless authors in bringing their important stories to the world.

Personally, I want to be known as someone who proved that sensitivity is a superpower in business, and that creativity and technology can work together beautifully when approached with intention. I'm excited about the possibility of my book becoming a cornerstone resource for conscious entrepreneurs worldwide.
