Kate Castro, Singer/Songwriter/Keynote Speaker

Who is Kate Castro? Introduce yourself, your hobbies, your favorites, you at home and in business. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

After years dedicated to music, singing in choirs, weddings, performing the national anthem in arenas, and with the intention of earning a music degree, I took a detour. Seeking a profession more stable than the music industry as I knew it, I transitioned into the world of insurance. I was hired by a professional businesswoman who led a team in Seattle.

Two years as an agent led to a promotion managing new agents, which ultimately brought me to Los Angeles. There, I managed a large team of professional insurance agents, experienced Southern California life, and met my husband. Soon after our matrimony, I happily returned to my first love, singing and songwriting.

My life today is centered around creativity and wellness, consisting of walking my dog, Jazz, working out, singing, writing, cooking, and spending time with my husband and friends. My recent journey of healing from cancer has provided me with an immense source of content for upcoming speaking engagements, a new book, and new songs.

What is your signature sound, and how does it set you apart?

My sound is a blend of soul and pop music. Artists like Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder, Sade, Jill Scott, and Phoebe Snow have inspired me since I was a little girl. I infuse my songs with instruments and sounds from various genres. I've always wanted to create a jazz album and will one day. Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable" album has been on repeat in my mind for years, and I just love it!

Can you share a recent success story?

In November 2023, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer requiring surgeries and chemotherapy. My healing process was a journey of deep insight and self-discovery, which inspired people to reach out for guidance in navigating life positively. From that experience, I expanded my business, SenseK8, into public speaking along with music. Speaking to companies, women’s groups, and conventions allows me to advise others on how to navigate adversity, a truly fulfilling new venture for me!

How do you tailor a performance or collaboration to a client’s vision?

It all depends on the client’s needs. For speaking engagements, if the top priority is motivating employees, I tailor my speech around uplifting topics to drive enthusiasm and productivity. While I am a huge advocate of empowering women, I have received rewarding feedback from men who have also found my insights helpful in their lives.

Where should people follow you, and who should reach out to you right now?

People should follow me on Instagram and Facebook @katecastromusic, or connect with me on LinkedIn. You can also request my services through my website. Hire me to speak or sing at an event! My music is available on all platforms.

Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for more info!
