Nobody wants to fail!

Every failure we experience has a massive impact on us mentally and emotionally to the point that they often become the only reason why we get stuck, doubting our abilities and ourselves.

However, in this short article, I want to share four reasons why I think failures must be seen as valuable experiences for our growth and development.

Reason 1:

Failing is a sign that you are taking action.

Only those who do not take action never fail.

If you are taking action, you are moving, and if you are moving, then you are growing. One wrong step forward is always better than no steps at all.

Reason 2:

If you don't judge yourself and your failures, they can potentially become an invaluable source of information to learn from.

Avoid seeing failures as adverse events, but see each failure as feedback on what must NOT be done. Evaluating failures without judging them will give you all the information you need to change direction and try something completely different.

Remember: even if you try and fail, it doesn't mean you didn't learn something.

Reason 3:

Without failures, you cannot measure success. In a few words, failure is a part of success.

We can say when something tastes good because we know what tastes terrible. We can say that someone is evil because we know what it means to be good. We can appreciate the warmth of the summer because we know the struggle of the winter.

Failure and success are sides of the same coin; one cannot live without the other, and as light doesn't exist without dark, success cannot exist without experiencing failure, but how we use failure is up to us.

Reason 4:

Failing will build your character.

The pain of not succeeding at something will make you a stronger human being both mentally and emotionally.

Think back at the most painful moments of your life.

I am sure that you've learned the most important lessons of your life in those moments. You learned how to bounce back and try it over and over again.

In those painful moments, you've changed and shaped the person you are today.

No doubt, failing is painful, but still, you can use that pain to develop resilience to bounce back and try it again and again until you arrive where you want with no regrets, with less fear, and with more desire to overcome the obstacles between you and your targets!

Right now, while I am writing this article, there are many things I am failing at, both in my personal and my professional life, but despite the obvious pain, what I am experiencing is not stopping me from keeping trying and, at the same walking my talk by believing in the four reasons I have shared with you today.

I am constantly learning from my actions and my results; when they are good, I celebrate, and I focus on what I can learn from them; when they are bad, well, of course, I don't celebrate, but I feel grateful as I found another good reason to do something different, something better.

Don't get me wrong, failing hurts, and it hurts really bad, but living a life with the unrealistic expectation of never failing, is even more painful than the failure itself, as you will constantly be living disappointed from your lack of results.

Start to look at failures as a part of life and, most importantly, as a fundamental building block of your success.

You might fail repeatedly, but remember that your failures will never define the great person you are!

Peace,

Antonio
