Losing someone you love can feel like a painful disconnection, but the bond doesn't have to end with their passing. Many people find comfort and meaning through practices that keep their loved ones’ presence alive in daily life. In this article, we’ll explore three heartfelt steps: remembering, listening, and believing that can help you stay spiritually connected beyond the physical realm.

Grief: The emotion that reminds us we do care
The emotion of grief is one of the most complex and dense of the “heavy” emotions. It always reminds us that we do care for others, even when we’ve been living a life avoiding and numbing out our emotions. Grief doesn’t wait for someone to be ready. It just shows up either during the transitioning process of a loved one (if it is a shared experience), or at the moment a loved one drops their body, or when the news that this has happened is heard. Grief brings deep wisdom from the Spirit World when a person is open to listening and learning while in the moments of a transition process and/or in the days after ascension. There are no spoken words needed during this time, neither from them nor from you.
Grief is one very potent emotion. When it is evoked and set into motion, it brings a tsunami of other emotions with it, whether the loss event was expected or not. Grief is being experienced by every human at this time! Very few were prepared mentally and emotionally for the amount and intensity of loss that would come about since 2020.
Many are having difficulty moving through their grief and loss. Loved ones can help from the Spirit World when the mind and the heart are open to this potential. We live in a time when the “veil” between worlds, the Spirit World and the physical one, is thinner than it's ever been. More information is being revealed about heart-based connections, telepathic communication, the eternal and infinite nature of the Spirit Soul, the “extraordinary senses” that we all possess and are activating, the energetic bodies, and much more. Knowing about such things prepares one to learn more about how to continue a deep connection with loved ones who are on the Spirit World side.
Step 1: Remember meaningful moments experienced with your lost loved one
Replay beautiful memories often and step fully into the remembrance of how each felt within your heart field. The memories that are deep and meaningful are laid down in the memory field of the heart center, so they are never forgotten. They offer a gift every time they are visited, and that gift is all the colorful, vibrant, high-frequency emotions that were shared between the two of you. This can take you to “the place called love,” where your connection to those you are “in love with” is eternally accessible. Every time you re-create these experiences, your loved ones in the Spirit World will also be in joy with you as you reminisce in this way.
Do this often to keep your connection open and alive. Memories never die, and making the choice to remember happy times is worth the effort. Look at photos and choose to embrace the essence of love shared between you, rather than dropping into sadness, depression, or despair because they are no longer in physical form. Celebrate their freedom and their continued journey, and you will be able to remain connected eternally in your heart center.
Step 2: Listen to the silence, communicating without spoken words
Emotions are messengers! They are not seen and they are not heard by your “ordinary senses” of sight or hearing. They are seen and heard by your extraordinary senses, and they are to be felt. Emotions are the language used by all Spiritual Beings, including Creator, Angels, and our loved ones. The truth is not “seeing is believing,” it is “believing is seeing”. Humans have been programmed by so much “verbal voodoo”, which is using the spoken word to insert beliefs that simply do not resonate with an inner knowing deep within the heart.
Many people are told that staying connected to loved ones who have passed through to the Spirit World is not possible, and that we should let them go and “bury our grief” when their body is burned or buried. Others are actually told that it is somehow wrong, impossible, bad or evil to keep communicating with our loved ones once they return to their Spirit Soul existence. This is all nonsense! Communication can absolutely continue, and there are many ways to facilitate the process.
Listening to the silence means hearing the unspoken words that come to you in the form of emotions, the messengers used by Spirits. Anyone can do this by simply asking and then waiting patiently in silence for a message to arrive. Once received, the message must be acknowledged and, most importantly, felt for the dialogue to fully open and continue. Using a journal to practice this method is very effective, and it's important to remember that if you want better answers, ask better questions!
Just like learning any new language, this takes time, practice and commitment to master. The time and effort are worth it and can lead to a fascinating understanding about life beyond this physical human existence. To learn more about how powerful connection and communication between the physical and Spirit Worlds can be, read the book, Listen To The Silence: Messages & Miracles From Spencer Who Never Spoke Words by Spencer L. Gray and Gina G. Gray to open your mind to the infinite potential when the heart space is clear, clean and open.
Step 3: Believing is seeing, hearing & feeling
“Verbal voodoo” has been used to separate people from many wonders of life and to shut down our gift of imagination. We are taught limiting beliefs like “seeing is believing” by authority figures, family members, collective beings of control that are educational, political, religious, or social, and many other influencers. This is done to program our minds so we are easier to control, will ask fewer questions, conform, and blindly obey authority figures. However, when we choose to trust our intuition, which is Spirit, we know that the messages we think are coming through from a lost loved one actually are. When we believe this without doubt and set the intention to continue a meaningful, heart-centered relationship with them, we can stay connected. We will see, hear and feel messages deep within our hearts and will know that they are from them.
It is not necessary to see the physical being that was once our loved one’s body to be able to believe that they remain available to us. There are many ways to validate this by asking for physical signs from them if that’s what you need to open to this belief. Once they are fully in Spirit form, which is pure energy, without the burden of the dense physical body, they can easily access any form of electrical energy. It is common for loved ones to turn lights on and off, flicker or flash them to get our attention. Any form of light energy can be used to offer a quick visual message.
They can also use the element of air/wind to deliver messages using feathers (or the entire bird), flowers, leaves, butterflies, moths, and other things to show us their omnipresence. They can move wind chimes when there is no air moving, breeze by us with a waft of cool or warm wind to capture our awareness, send us a familiar scent relative to them, and blow a piece of paper onto the floor to get our attention. They can do this on their own or upon request, making this method a fun way to interact with them.
They can use music to deliver messages communicated through the lyrics of songs or to touch us deeply with a melody, pitch, tone, instrument or song that connected us when they were in physical form. This is a favorite way for many Spirits to get our attention because music is a common form used to create and share emotional connection in multiple settings in both the physical and Spiritual worlds. When we decide to believe that we can stay connected to our lost loved ones who have moved on to their Spirit Soul existence, we will see, hear, and feel them in unlimited ways.
We know in our hearts that they are communicating with us. This connection was made in the heart space shared when they were in physical form, so it is eternal.
