Trying to grow your businesses and not seeing immediate progress is frustrating, but it doesn't have be that way! The truth is, if you want to build a stronger, more profitable business in 2022, you have to know what NOT to do. Here are the 10 mistakes that you need to STOP doing if you want your business to grow and thrive in 2022.

1. Not Starting

I know that starting a business can be overwhelming, and if it's something that you're just getting started with, it might feel really uncomfortable or scary. But if your goal is to leave your day job, impact more people or hit $100K in revenue by the end of 2022, you have to start somewhere—so just start!

2. Not Having A Plan

If you don't have a plan, how can you expect your business to reach its goals? You'll need to know your top 3 priorities for the year, along with how much revenue you want to generate each month, so you can figure out what steps you'll need to take to get there. This is especially important if your goal for 2022 is to stop treating your passion like a hobby and build a profitable business.

3. Not Working On The Right Things

It's easy to get distracted with what everyone else is doing, but it doesn't matter if they're making $5K, $50K or $500K—you only have control over YOU and your business, so focus on that! Figure out what works for you and focus on investing your time on things that actually move the needle and contribute to your monthly goals.

4. Not Thinking Big

In order to arrive at your destination, you have to be super clear about what you're aiming for. If your goal is to help thousands of people with your expertise or hit $100K in revenue by the end of 2022, it's not going to happen by thinking small. So think big and aim high! Having a CEO mindset, clear vision and measurable goals can help.

5. Not Being Consistent With Your Marketing Efforts

It takes a lot of time and energy to generate leads and attract new customers, but this is time well spent because when you’re consistent with your marketing efforts, you'll see results. This means communicating regularly with your audience! Sending out a weekly email, creating blog content on a regular basis, nurturing relationships, guest blogging and being active on social media can all help.

6. Not Tracking Your Results

If you don't track your results, how will you know what's working and what isn't? You need to monitor and measure your results so that you can compare them with the amount of time, money and effort that it took for those results. For example, if you invest $100 and it helps you generate 50 new leads, that's a good return on your investment, but if you only generate five leads for that $100 you may need to rethink your strategy. At the end of the day, without keeping track of how well your investments are paying off, you'll have no idea where to invest your time, energy and money.

7. Not Delegating

This one's a biggie. It can be really tough to let go of control, hire help and delegate tasks, but if you want your business to grow this is something that you'll need to do. You're only one person! Delegating helps free up your time and mental energy so that you can focus on the things that are most important to you and your business growth.

8. Not Being Organized

Without organization and systems in place, your business will run you instead of the other way around. I like to think of this like that scene from Finding Nemo, where Nemo gets caught up in the net with all of the other fish. In order to free themselves, they have to all swim in the same direction. The same is true for your business. If you're not organized, you'll be pulled in all directions, which scatters your energy and makes it difficult to achieve your goals.

9. Not Investing In Yourself

If you want your business to reach new heights, then you need to invest in yourself by taking courses, attending workshops, reading books and listening to podcasts. This will help you learn what works (and what doesn't) so you can continue to grow your knowledge, skills and leadership.

10. Not Celebrating Your Successes

When you achieve a goal, big or small, celebrate it! This refuels you and keeps you motivated and inspired to work hard, level up and reach new goals. An end-of-the week reflection can help you identify your progress so you can celebrate your wins!
