Roje Khalique

Clinical Consultant and Founder of rkTherapy

Roje Khalique is a distinguished visionary in mental health, with nearly two decades of experience providing psychological support to thousands of men and women.
Her clinical career includes supporting clients with learning disabilities, long-term health conditions, neurological and psychological disorders. Roje is also the founder of rkTherapy, a bespoke psychology service for city professionals, designed to challenge the stigma of mental health conditions, especially in Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority (BAME) communities.

At rkTherapy, Roje specialises in providing bespoke, culturally attuned Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for elite investment professionals and lawyers in London's high-stakes corporate world. With over 15 years of experience delivering one-to-one psychological support, Roje has revolutionised access to mental health services for high-functioning professionals who often hesitate to seek mainstream support.

Roje's background as a former London city professional give her a unique appreciation of the exhilaration and pressures inherent in these demanding environments. Her clinical work is informed by research highlighting the prevalence of mental health challenges in specific professions. For instance, a 2021 LawCare survey found that 69% of legal professionals had experienced mental ill-health in the previous year, while a 2018 study showed that financial services workers were 44% more likely to suffer from stress-related illnesses compared to the general population.

Roje is also acutely aware of the additional challenges faced by women in finance and law – the traditional male-dominated industries, and ethnic minorities in these fields. As a member of an ethnic minority group in London, Roje is keen to address the lack of culturally attuned psychotherapy in mainstream services. This insight drives her commitment to providing tailored support to a diverse clientele, addressing the unique challenges faced by minorities in high-pressure industries. A 2019 report by the Race Equality Foundation found that people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds were less likely to access mental health services, with only 14% of BAME individuals receiving treatment compared to 20% of White British individuals.

As a BABCP Accredited CBT psychotherapist, Roje employs Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for anxiety conditions and various psychological disorders. During the Covid-19 lockdown, Roje's expertise proved invaluable as she helped staff in city law firms and financial institutions manage stress, anxiety, burnout and isolation in unprecedented circumstances. Her approach ensures that even in London's most demanding corporate environments, mental health and personal growth remain priorities.

As a clinician in mental health, Roje has encountered a wide range of anxiety-related conditions in her practice. These include Agoraphobia, Anxiety Attacks, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety (Hypochondriasis), Panic Attacks, Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Sleep Anxiety, Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia), Specific Phobias, and Separation Anxiety Disorder. Additionally, Roje has treated patients with Anxiety Disorder Due to Another Medical Condition and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Other conditions that have emerged in her practice include Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Personality Disorders, Relationship Issues, and Sexual Anxiety. Roje is experienced in addressing the complex issues stemming from childhood and adult sexual abuse. Moreover, she is well-versed in supporting clients manage challenges, such as Gambling, Sex and Porn Addictions. Each of these conditions presents unique challenges and intricacies, and Roje’s aim is always to provide compassionate and effective care to those affected.

As founder of rkTherapy - A Bespoke Psychology Consultancy, Roje continues to pioneer new ways of bringing premium, evidence-based psychological support to those at the top of their professions, helping clients achieve a harmonious balance between their professional ambitions and personal well-being. Roje is dedicated to making quality mental health support accessible to those who need it most but are least likely to seek help. She developed innovative solutions, including a CBT online platform and a CBT mobile app, designed to fit the demanding schedules of high-functioning professionals, anytime and anywhere.

Roje's mission is to spread scientific and evidence-based interventions in mental health, particularly to those in the City of London who often suffer in silence. Through rkTherapy she provides fast, quality psychological assessments and support, firmly believing that health is wealth and recognising the intrinsic link between mental wellbeing and overall success. Roje offers in-person psychological support in London, as well as virtual consultations and treatments to her clients across the UK, Europe, US, Middle East, and Asia. Her vision and dedication to mental health extends beyond geographical boundaries.

Roje Khalique's unique blend of corporate insight, clinical expertise, specialism in culturally attuned psychotherapy, and innovative approach positions her as a pioneering figure in mental health support for high-achieving professionals. Her work not only addresses current needs but also shapes the future of mental health care provision for those who may be suffering silently in demanding corporate environments, globally.
