Dr. Moa Lundstrom
Counselling Psychologist and Founding Director
Dr Moa Lundstrom is a Counselling Psychologist and Founding Director of The London Practice, one of London's leading private therapy clinics. She co-founded the practice with Dr Lee Valls in 2016 with a shared aim of creating a warm, professional and compassionate environment for therapy, one where clients could feel supported to explore the challenges of being human with care, integrity and clinical depth.
What began as a small clinic in Covent Garden has since grown into four locations across London, with a team of over 30 therapists supporting a large number of clients every day. Dr Lundstrom remains closely involved in the clinical life of the practice: she oversees clinical standards, facilitates supervision groups, and has helped build training pathways that nurture the next generation of therapists. For her, the clinic is not simply a business but a professional home, a place where rigorous, compassionate therapy is the norm and where practitioners are supported to do their best work.
Her interest in psychology began early, growing up surrounded by her mother's psychology books and developing a fascination with larger questions around wellbeing, meaning, and what it means to live well. She completed a BSc in Psychology and Creative Writing at Kingston University before working across diverse settings; supporting children with autism, brain injury rehabilitation, and social integration work with individuals experiencing schizophrenia. A counselling foundation course at Regent's University introduced her to existential thought, a perspective that closely reflected her long-standing interest in philosophy and human experience.
Dr Lundstrom went on to complete a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC), a training institute grounded in existential philosophy. Her doctoral research explored the subjective experiences of individuals who rejected a schizophrenia diagnosis, reflecting an enduring interest in how people understand themselves beyond labels alone. Following roles in charities and the NHS, she channelled this experience into building The London Practice - a clinic grounded in the belief that mental health care should meet people where they are, rather than fitting them into rigid frameworks.
Her clinical philosophy draws on existential thought and the recognition that we are all "thrown" into lives we did not choose – particular families, cultures, bodies, and circumstances that shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. She is especially interested in helping clients develop a more nuanced sense of who they are, resisting the oversimplified explanations that dominate social media and popular discourse. This ethos runs through The London Practice itself: a commitment to depth, individuality, and real understanding.
Beyond her work within the clinic, Dr Lundstrom organises wellbeing events and contributes articles aimed at public education, bringing together psychology and existential thought to explore themes around meaning, relationships, and living well.
