Laurenza Buglisi

Social Worker & Family Therapist

Laurenza Buglisi holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology & Criminology) from Monash University, a Master of Social Work from The University of Melbourne, and a Master of Clinical Family Therapy from La Trobe University. She has close to two decades of professional experience working with children, young people and adults, mostly in a clinical forensic capacity or organisational child safeguarding. Laurenza has held leadership positions on boards of management in social work and women’s health and has taught university undergraduate and postgraduate students in counselling and social work. She is particularly passionate about protecting children from harm and abuse through providing psychoeducation and support to parents and caregivers. Laurenza is also committed to ensuring the next generation of social workers are confident in understanding and responding to disclosures of sexual abuse from families, in addition to learning what preventative measures can be taken at an organisational level to reduce risk. Her upcoming work will include engaging families in research to explore the impact of estrangement on families affected by child sexual abuse.
