Dr. Hussein H. Rifai
Thought Leader and Chairman
Dr Hussein H. Rifai is a global business leader, investor, company chairman, investment banker and thought leader whose career spans more than four decades across 85 countries. Recognised for his international perspective and ability to navigate complex business environments, he has built a career at the intersection of strategy, corporate governance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, business transformation and international growth.
Beginning his career as an engineer, Hussein quickly moved into senior leadership positions with some of the world's most respected multinational organisations, including Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Ernst & Young and Cap Gemini. During this time he led large-scale transformation programs, operational improvement initiatives, global supply chain projects and strategic growth programs across North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. These experiences shaped a leadership philosophy centred on disciplined execution, innovation, cultural intelligence and creating sustainable long-term value.
Following his multinational career, Hussein transitioned into entrepreneurship, establishing successful businesses in investment banking, corporate advisory, private equity and strategic consulting. He has advised company founders, boards, institutional investors, family offices and executive leadership teams on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, restructurings, governance, international expansion and business transformation. His experience spans businesses ranging from founder-led enterprises to publicly listed corporations operating in highly competitive global markets.
As a company chairman and non-executive director, Hussein has served on the boards of public and private companies across manufacturing, food and agribusiness, consumer products, financial services, healthcare, technology, logistics and industrial sectors. His governance philosophy focuses on long-term value creation, strong board oversight, responsible leadership, strategic clarity and aligning management execution with shareholder interests. His practical boardroom experience enables him to bridge the gap between governance theory and commercial reality.
Hussein holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration, complementing qualifications in engineering and business. His academic research, combined with decades of executive and board experience, provides a unique perspective that blends evidence-based thinking with practical commercial application. Rather than viewing business through a purely theoretical or operational lens, he believes sustainable success comes from integrating strategy, leadership, governance, innovation and disciplined execution.
As an international author and commentator, Hussein writes extensively on leadership, corporate governance, artificial intelligence, private equity, investment strategy, international business, economic competitiveness and the future of work. His articles explore how organisations can adapt to technological disruption, geopolitical uncertainty and rapidly changing global markets while maintaining ethical leadership and creating enduring value. His writing is known for combining strategic insight with practical experience drawn from decades of leading businesses through periods of growth, crisis and transformation.
Having lived, worked or conducted business across 85 countries, Hussein brings a genuinely global perspective to leadership. He believes that the most successful organisations are those that embrace diversity of thought, continuous learning and international collaboration. His cross-cultural experience enables him to identify opportunities and risks that are often overlooked by leaders operating within a single market or industry.
Hussein is also the author of The Chaos Theorem, a memoir exploring resilience, reinvention, leadership and the unpredictable nature of success. More than a business memoir, the book examines the personal and professional lessons learned through decades of building companies, leading organisations, navigating setbacks and embracing change across multiple continents and cultures. It reflects his belief that uncertainty is not something to be feared, but a powerful catalyst for innovation, growth and transformation.
Throughout his career, Hussein has remained committed to developing leaders who think globally, act strategically and lead with integrity. Whether advising boards, investing in businesses or writing on the future of leadership, his mission is to help organisations and individuals navigate complexity, challenge conventional thinking and build businesses that create lasting economic and social value.
His work continues to inspire executives, entrepreneurs, investors and directors seeking practical insights into leadership, governance and international business in an increasingly interconnected world.
