Anna Marson
Registered Psychotherapist
Anna Marson, PsyD, RP, CCC is a Registered Psychotherapist and founder of Heartfulness Psychotherapy. With a Doctor of Psychology and 14 years of clinical experience, she specializes in ADHD, trauma, attachment, addiction and brain injury, bringing an interpersonal neurobiological lens to mental health care and high-performance leadership.
Anna began her career as a front-line addiction counsellor in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, where she developed expertise in complex mental health presentations. She later served as a school counsellor at Humber College before joining the Springboard Clinic, one of Toronto's leading ADHD centres, as an ADHD coach. Through this work, she recognized the profound and under-addressed overlap between ADHD and trauma, an insight that became the foundation of her doctoral research. Her PsyD dissertation, Attending to the Interpersonal Neurobiological Implications of ADHD, was among the first to empirically examine the secondary challenges associated with ADHD from a trauma-informed lens, including emotion dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, insecure attachment, autonomic dysregulation, impaired self-concept and trauma, factors frequently overlooked in conventional treatment. Her work bridges advanced trauma therapy with specialized coaching, integrating research and clinical practice to support more comprehensive, nervous-system-first care.
Anna's integrative approach draws on interpersonal neurobiology, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She completed facilitator training in Sat Dharam Kaur's Beyond Addiction program, which integrates Dr. Gabor Maté's Compassionate Inquiry model. She was a guest presenter on PESI's webinar, Rethinking ADHD with Gabor Maté and Terry Matlen: From Origins to Healing. She serves as mindfulness advisor to the Brain Changes Initiative, a Canadian non-profit committed to transforming the standard of care for brain injury survivors through research, education and their evidence-based Six Pillars of Brain Health framework. Anna is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
