  • Jen Fisher, Yoga Teacher and Retreat Leader, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Jen Fisher is a mom, dog lover, mover, creator, and humbled to be called a yoga teacher. Movement has always been part of her life as a dancer, swimmer, and hiker. She grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and spent much of her weekends in nature, without realizing how connected she was to its magic until she rediscovered its pure essence through yoga. In the early 2000s, Jen experienced many changes, including becoming a mom and taking care of her mother, who was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. Jen was practicing yoga regularly and had the special moment that so many yoga students experience—finding herself in a stressful situation, focusing on her breath, and not losing her cool. She realized that yoga asanas (yoga poses) are just a small part of the bigger picture that yoga teaches. From that point on, she was changed. Yoga became part of her life, and she wanted her young daughters to learn about yoga as well. Living in Raleigh, NC, in 2007, she found that no children's yoga classes were available. So, she traveled to NYC to get certified to teach children. She had to forge her own path and fight against the stigma of yoga in the South being associated with religion. Schools were hesitant to allow her to come in and teach yoga, so she had to create her own space to offer yoga to children. Since then, Jen has taught thousands of children yoga—through public libraries, yoga studios, preschools, daycares, city camps, churches, public schools, and her co-owned kids' yoga and art studio from 2016 to 2020. Many of the parents of her students began asking her to teach them as well, so she started her adult yoga teacher training in 2010 and continued her advanced training with yoga pioneer Shiva Rea. Jen has been involved in just about every aspect of the yoga industry. Beyond teaching and running retreats, she has owned her own yoga boutique—acting as the buyer, merchandiser, and face of the brand—co-owned a children's art and yoga studio, worked as faculty in many teacher training programs, co-developed a Yoga Alliance children's yoga school, and led over 20 retreats worldwide. To Jen, the most important part of being a yoga teacher is always being a yoga student. Without continuous practice and learning, there is no teacher. She feels so fortunate to have so many inspiring and creative teachers whom she learns from every day. Her students are her teachers. Her children are her teachers. Everyone has something to teach us. Jen continues to teach yoga, lead teacher trainings and retreats, and create community wherever she lands. Yoga is home to her, and she is passionate about sharing it with others. You can find Jen in Raleigh, NC, and online. • Eleonore Bronswijk-Marmeuse , Founder, Heart of Language, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Eleonore is the founder of Heart of Language, an international language institute specialising in language education under hypnosis. She is a French hypnotherapist with over ten years of experience working with adults in language learning and spoken communication. Her professional path developed at the intersection of language teaching and hypnosis. Early in her career, she worked as an English teacher using hypnosis as a learning tool, which gave her firsthand insight into how focused learning states can influence attention, memory, and spoken language. Later, her own experience of struggling to learn Dutch deepened her interest in the emotional and cognitive barriers adults often face when learning a new language. This combination of professional practice and personal experience led her to deepen her work with hypnosis in language learning and to support adults facing similar challenges. Today, she runs Heart of Language together with her husband and business partner, Barry Bronswijk. Together, they oversee the development and international growth of the institute, which works with adult learners from a wide range of backgrounds. At Heart of Language, the focus is on creating a learning environment that emphasises focus, safety, and practical language use. The institute operates internationally, offering courses in person in the Netherlands and online worldwide, for adults seeking a more efficient and supportive way to learn to speak new languages. In her writing, Eleonore explores how hypnosis, EFT, and neuroscience-informed approaches can reshape adult language learning. She focuses on the role of attention, learning states, and emotional regulation in language acquisition and use. Her work bridges practice and reflection, aiming to bring clarity and alternative perspectives to adult language education. Can Working Moms Really Have It All? Alexa Starks Thinks She’s Found the Answer - Exclusive Interview Can Working Moms Really Have It All? Alexa Starks Thinks She’s Found the Answer - Exclusive Interview In today’s corporate landscape, where diversity and inclusion are increasingly important, few leaders are pushing the boundaries of what meaningful support for parents truly looks like. Alexa Starks is one of them. An award-winning workplace culture innovator and founder of Executive Moms, Starks has built a mission-driven company that bridges the gap between organizations and the unique challenges faced by working mothers. Her journey is both professional and deeply personal. After a decade in corporate America working in advertising and strategic operations, Starks thought she understood the playbook for career growth. But when she became a mother, she quickly discovered how little support existed for women transitioning back into the workforce. “There was no re-onboarding plan, no check-in, no conversation about what I needed or how I was actually doing,” she recalls. That realization sparked the idea for Executive Moms, a company that now partners with organizations to deliver parent-forward culture workshops and equips mothers with the tools to thrive during one of the most pivotal moments in their careers. With a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and a High-Performance Leadership certificate from Cornell, Starks brings both academic expertise and lived experience to her work. By focusing on empathy, systems, and sustainable growth, she is shaping a new standard for workplaces everywhere.
