Nathalie Fairbanks grew up in Germany and has lived in the U.S. since 1999. She graduated from European School Karlsruhe, went on to study Recording Engineering at Hochschule der Künste Berlin and simultaneously earned a B.A. in Music and a degree as Diplom-Kauffrau from T.U. Berlin. A DAAD scholarship facilitated her study at Stevens Institute of Technology where she earned an M.Sc. in Management. A few years working as a Financial Analyst for Hewlett Packard and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein on Wall Street were enough to convince her that teaching is her true calling. She then earned an M.A. in Foreign Language Teaching from New York University and has taught college German in New York City as well as online.   She first encountered Iyengar yoga as a graduate student during her study abroad program in Hoboken, NJ in 1996. She fell in love with the precision and rigor of this style of yoga as she experienced the physical, mental and emotional benefits of the practice. She has had the honor of studying with some of the most experienced Iyengar yoga teachers in the U.S. and is certified at Level 2 by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States.   Since she started teaching in 2006, she has seen the effect of increased flexibility, better alignment of joints and improved balance on her students’ quality of life. If years of pain could be alleviated with a few months of practice, what else was possible? The door to studying Yoga Therapy was opened and that is where Nathalie has been immersed. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and certified to teach Yoga for Osteoporosis by Dr. Loren Fishman, M.D.   Inspiring students to take charge of their long-term well-being has become the focus of her work. People are not just listening to your words; they are learning what is safe to say, what is worth raising, and what is better left unsaid. Duane Haynes on His Experience of Heaven – Brainz Podcast Duane Haynes, poet and author of To Flourish, God is the Light, We are its Spectrum, joins the Brainz Magazine podcast for a powerful conversation on faith, purpose, and the near-death experience that changed his life forever. After falling from a high diving board at 12 years old and slipping into a three-day coma, Duane says he met God, saw Heaven, and returned with a message that would shape the rest of his life. In this episode, he opens up about what he experienced, what he says Heaven is really like, and how that moment led him to begin writing poetry, which he believes was given to him for others in need of guidance, peace, and direction. The conversation explores the spiritual calling behind his work, the unusual way his poems come to him, and why he sees writing not just as creativity, but as obedience, service, and mission. Duane also reflects on the loneliness, doubt, and persistence it has taken to keep sharing that message with the world. This is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking episode for anyone curious about life after death, spiritual purpose, and what it means to live with faith, meaning, and a sense of calling.
