If you’ve ever left an interview thinking, “I nailed it!” and still didn’t get the offer, this is for you. You meet all the job requirements. You have the experience. You even made the interviewer smile and nod. But then, silence.

No callback. No offer. Just another “We’ve chosen to move forward with another candidate” email.

Sound familiar?

The problem isn’t your skills.

It’s your positioning, presence, and storytelling.

Interviews aren’t just about answers. They’re about energy

When you walk into an interview (or log into Zoom), you’re being evaluated on more than your résumé.

The unspoken checklist includes:

  • Do you communicate with clarity?

  • Do you carry yourself with confidence?

  • Do you feel like a good fit for the culture?

  • Are you memorable for the right reasons?

Your body language, voice tone, and structure all shape the impression you leave, whether you realize it or not.

Body language + voice = 70% of the message

Yes, your words matter.

But your presence speaks louder.

  • Are you making eye contact (even virtually)?

  • Are you sitting upright, grounded, and relaxed?

  • Is your tone warm and clear, not rushed or robotic?

These subtle signals create trust or tension, and interviewers feel them before they consciously process them.

Use STAR(T) to tell stories that stick

Interviewers remember stories, not bullet points.

That’s why I teach the STAR(T) technique:

  • Situation: Set the context.

  • Task: What was your role?

  • Action: What did you do?

  • Result: What happened?

  • (T) Takeaway: What did you learn, or what changed after that?

Example:

"We were losing clients due to delays (Situation), and I was tasked with redesigning our workflow (Task). I introduced a new project management tool and trained the team (Action), which cut delivery times by 40% (Result). That experience taught me the power of team alignment and clear KPIs (Takeaway)."See? Structured, specific, and strategic.

Your nerves aren’t the problem; your preparation is

Feeling nervous doesn’t mean you’re unqualified.

It means you care.

But the way to manage nerves is not to “calm down”; it’s to prepare like a pro.

  • Practice aloud.

  • Record yourself and adjust.

  • Learn to redirect anxious energy into focus.

  • Visualize a successful outcome.

Confidence isn’t a gift; it’s a muscle you build through preparation and repetition.

You’re closer than you think

If you’re getting interviews, you’re doing something right.

Now it’s time to land them.

Because interviews aren’t just about saying the right thing.

They’re about showing up with clarity, credibility, and connection.
