Have you ever tried to lose weight but nothing worked? Or perhaps you have lost the weight and gained it back? Usually, most people focus on eating less and moving more, which works temporarily.

The truth is, if you want to lose weight, you need to change your identity.

If you identify yourself as someone who is constantly hungry, someone who loves junk food, someone who “nothing works, I am just fat!”, overeating and having unhealthy habits are just a consequence of your beliefs about yourself.

I want you to stop for a moment and think about yourself: who are you? How would you describe yourself? What are your thoughts about food and a healthy lifestyle? And what are your behaviours regarding food and exercise?

Before starting any diet, you need to question yourself about who you want to be. What you would like to wear? How would your life look once you have the weight off? How would you feel with yourself and with others?

If you don’t think you are ready to lose weight? You might have a few excuses

  • I haven’t got time to cook.

  • I am too stressed right now.

  • I am too busy right now.

  • Once I got my new place.

  • Once this difficult period passed.

And so on.

You just have to decide, if you decide to be ready, you are! and nothing outside of you can stop you.

Doing this mental work is so crucial if you want to lose weight, and mainly, if you want to keep the weight off.

Imagine if you identify as

  • Someone who has self-love

  • Someone who exercises every day no matter what

  • Someone who loves healthy food

  • Someone mindful of what is consumed

  • Someone who stops eating when full

And so on.

It will be harder for you to put the weight back on and whenever you have a difficult moment in life, you will always find a way to get back on track because that is who you are now.

The power is always in your mind!
