Something has shifted. You can feel it even if you haven't named it. Not a trend. Not a cycle. Something underneath the surface of all of it , the uncertainty, the acceleration, the exhaustion, that is asking a different kind of question than the ones most leaders are trained to answer. 2026 is not asking you to do more. It is asking you to recalibrate

What leaders are feeling
In the work I do with leaders, I hear the same thing again and again, often not stated directly, but present in everything that is said.
Something isn't working the way it used to. The drive is still there. The commitment is still there. But something underneath the motion has gone quiet in a way that doesn't feel like rest. It feels like a signal.
The data confirms what I'm witnessing. DDI's Global Leadership Forecast, one of the largest leadership studies in the world, found that 71% of leaders are under increased stress, with 40% actively considering leaving their roles. Not because they don't care.
Because the current model of leadership is no longer sustainable for the people being asked to carry it.
This is not a personal failing. It is a structural one. The conditions have changed. The tools haven't caught up. The gap between them is where the exhaustion lives.
What reset actually means
The word "reset" is used so freely that it has lost its meaning. In leadership culture, it usually means stop, breathe, recalibrate slightly, then continue doing what you were doing, only faster. A reset as recharge. A pause before the next acceleration. That is not what 2026 is offering.
A genuine reset is structural. It doesn't ask what you need to do differently. It asks what you need to be differently. It surfaces the assumptions running underneath your leadership, about what success looks like, about what pace is sustainable, and about what leading from strength actually means at this level of complexity.
Most leaders avoid this conversation because it feels like stepping off solid ground. In a way, it is. But solid ground built on outdated assumptions isn't stability. It's a foundation that has already begun to shift. It just hasn't told you yet.
What 2026 is not asking
It is worth being clear about what this moment is not. 2026 is not asking leaders to slow down as a concession to their limits. It is not asking them to care less, achieve less, or settle for less. It is not a year of contraction.
It is a year of recalibration, which is an entirely different thing. Recalibration doesn't reduce the field of what's possible. It brings the instrument back into alignment with what it's actually meant to measure.
The leaders who will move most powerfully through 2026 and beyond are not the ones who push hardest through the discomfort of this moment. They are the ones who become willing to be recalibrated by it. That distinction matters. Because one is an act of force, and the other is an act of coherence.
Three things 2026 is asking
To stop mistaking acceleration for progress. Speed is not the same as direction. The clearest decisions I witness leaders make don't come from doing more. They come from the moments of genuine stillness that constant motion prevents.
To lead from the inside out. The external environment of 2026, uncertainty, disruption, shifting expectations, is not a problem to solve. It is a mirror. What it reflects is the degree to which a leader's internal coherence can hold steady when the conditions around them no longer provide the stability they used to rely on.
To trust what doesn't have a metric yet. The most important things happening in leadership right now don't show up in quarterly results. They show up first as a quiet knowing, then as a decision that surprises even the person who made it, then as a quality of presence that others feel before they can explain.
This is what coherence looks like from the inside.
The question underneath 2026
If you strip away the noise of this moment, the headlines, the forecasts, the pressure to respond to everything, a single question remains.
Not "how do I lead through this?" but "who am I remembering as I lead through this?" Because 2026 is not a problem to solve. It is a threshold to cross. What you bring to the threshold, the quality of your presence, the coherence of your field, the degree to which you are leading from the inside out, determines not just what you achieve, but what becomes possible for everyone in your orbit.
You've already felt this. The pull toward something different. The sense that the old map no longer matches the territory. That isn't confusion. That is the beginning of recalibration.
If you're ready to understand what that looks like for you specifically, The Mirror Path is the space where that question becomes visible, not as a problem, but as a threshold you're already standing at.
