In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, few individuals embody the spirit of innovation and leadership quite like Joey Donofrio. From the diamond to the boardroom

Joey's foundation in leadership began on the baseball diamond. Playing college baseball taught him invaluable lessons about teamwork, management, and the nuances of leading a diverse group of individuals. "Baseball taught me a lot about leadership and management skills," Joey reflects. "When you're part of a team, you learn to communicate effectively and understand the strengths of your teammates."

With a degree in business administration focused on economics, Joey was always fascinated by entrepreneurship. He recalls attending seminars where successful business owners shared their stories, igniting a passion for building something of his own. "That was where the seed was planted," he says. "I wanted to do something bigger when I got out of college."

A niche in home inspections

Joey's entrepreneurial journey led him to the home inspection industry, where he identified a significant gap in training and education. Recognizing that many aspiring home inspectors were not receiving the quality training they needed, he founded a Training Academy for Home Inspectors. "I was paying for my inspectors to get trained by others who weren't doing things the way I wanted," he explains. "So, I thought, why not create our own school?"

This initiative not only provided quality training for his inspectors but also filled a crucial need in the marketplace. Joey emphasizes that while obtaining a home inspector license is essential, understanding the business side of things is even more critical. "The reality is that 30% of people who get their license will actually go on to do inspections, and only 15% of those will be successful in the long run," he notes. "We need to focus on the business side to help them thrive."

Virtual concierge services: A game changer

In addition to his work in home inspections, Joey founded Virtual Concierge Services, aimed at helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses. "I wanted to help self-employed individuals reach that seven-figure level," he shares. "The key to growth is bringingpeople into your company to work for you."

Joey's approach involves providing dedicated virtual assistants (VAs) who are trained to understand the specific needs of each business. "We help create systems and processes so that if a VA doesn't work out, you can easily plug in someone new," he explains. This model not only streamlines operations but also empowers entrepreneurs to focus on the bigger picture.

The importance of personal development

Joey believes that personal growth is essential for business success. "If I want to grow my business, I have to focus on growing myself first," he states. His commitment to mentorship extends to his VAs, whom he trains not only in their professional roles but also in personal development. "We create alignment between their goals and the business goals, so when the business achieves milestones, they do too."

Words of wisdom

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Joey has valuable advice for those navigating the challenges of business ownership. "Don't overcomplicate things," he advises. "Don't put the worry before the problem. You're closer to success than you think." His passion for helping others is evident, and he encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to seek out mentorship and support.
