Andrea Marsh, Deeper Connections

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

I worked in the hairdressing industry for around 25 years and have always loved connecting with people! It’s common knowledge that your hairdresser is your confidante and I spent many years being the ear they needed to bend for advice and guidance! Funnily enough, I loved it and watching the change in your clients when they tell you how much better they feel for offloading their problems is a great feeling and always gave me a sense of satisfaction.

I have a wonderful daughter who is 19 years old now and she is my absolute world. Horses are my absolute passion and I have been riding since I was about four years old. My daughter and I have two horses and we regularly compete in the show jumping world. I also have a cocker spaniel called Teddy Bear and a German Shepherd called Kaiser. My animals keep me sane when the world around feels crazy!

Can you tell me more about the background and inspiration behind Deeper Connections? How did the idea for the business come about?

It came about in a very bizarre way and they always say things happen for a reason. My daughter became very unwell around 5 years ago and ended up spending over two years in mental health hospitals. It was an extremely traumatic time and we all suffered as a result of her illness. Then when lockdown came and I couldn’t work, it became clear that my health was suffering hugely too and I needed to find a way to cope and find the strength to be there for my daughter, who was all I had!

I turned to social media and the internet and found that working with the power of positivity and meditation was actually helping me enormously.

As a result of what was happening with my daughter, I was approached by another two parents who’s children were going through a similar experience and they turned to me for help and guidance. I spent a lot of time with them and coached them through what was a very dark time for them and their families. When one of them said I should do this for a living, I stopped in my tracks!

I suddenly realised that all these years I had been helping and guiding people and loved the feeling it gave me when I saw transformational changes! So I decided to go into life coaching and gained my diploma. I also qualified and gained a Level 2 diploma in mental health which I felt was a massive attribute to the coaching. I now specialise in the mindset and self development areas of coaching as I completely understand that this is where it all begins, in the mind!

What types of services does Deeper Connections offer, and how do they help individuals or businesses achieve their goals?

I work with individuals transforming the way they think and feel and coaching them into understanding how the brain and the mind work together. I also allow them to understand the power of the sub conscious and unconscious mind and how it can affect all of our daily lives without even realising it. When you have a deeper understanding and a deeper connection into your own mind, the limits are endless and can be life changing.

I also work with companies who struggle with staff retention, absence issues and leadership coaching and help them to transform their working environment into a happier, healthier workplace. I create wellbeing plans for all of their staff to enable the team leaders and managers to deal with any potential mental health issues carefully and effectively and the mindset coaching plays a vital role in ensuring that the employees are all working together effectively.

How does Deeper Connections differentiate itself from other similar businesses in the industry? What makes it unique or special? I believe the strategies and coaching that I offer is completely unique and bespoke to each individual company and I don’t believe there is anyone else out there that transforms the staff and teams the way I do. Through wellbeing plans, leadership coaching and mastermind training days for the management team, I offer a complete and comprehensive package that is unparalleled.

Looking ahead, what are the future goals and aspirations for Deeper Connections? Are there any upcoming projects or initiatives that you are particularly excited about?

Yes I am very excited to share that I will be launching a unique Mindset Masterclass One Day event on 26th September at the Novotel London Stansted. It will be a full day of deep diving into understanding the mind and how it works, establishing where you are in your life now, where you want to be and how you are going to get there! It will be exciting, challenging, fun and educational and at the end of the day will give you the focus and clarity you need to make those important and transformational changes to improve all areas of your life! I am very excited about it!

One of my main goals also over the next year is to write about my experiences through my daughters illness as I genuinely believe it can give so much light and knowledge for other parents going through similar experiences.

Seeing the trauma from a parent's perspective is something which I don’t believe is shared enough and many parents are going through these dark chapters of their lives alone and without much help and guidance. I want everyone to know that it doesn’t matter how dark the pathways get sometimes, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, we just need to keep going and we will eventually reach it! Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

My daughters illness changed my life in so many ways and I now understand that the gift of helping people to transform their lives is very unique and special. I genuinely believe I have finally found my calling and believe that is what I am here to do. I want to help and guide as many people as possible going forward to make their lives and this world a much better and happier place to be.

The key to change is to let go of fear!
