Marine Paksadze, an English teacher and tutor at EfE Club, stands out in her profession. She doesn’t follow traditional methods or rely heavily on grammar rules or textbooks. Instead, she believes that in today's digital era, effective teaching requires creativity, technology, and personal connection. Her approach is all about practical experience, active participation, and fun.

Marine is convinced that modern education must meet students where they are surrounded by gadgets, information, and constant change. That’s why she uses a wide variety of engaging methodologies and interactive activities to make the learning process both effective and enjoyable. At the same time, she aims to equip her students with essential life skills, such as public speaking, leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Curious about how she does it? Let’s dive into the creative world of EfE Club.

A space for speaking, sharing, and shining

Unlike many traditional teachers, Marine gives her students the opportunity to express themselves freely. They are encouraged to ask questions, share opinions, and lead discussions on topics that are relevant to their age and interests.

EfE Club holds regular events where students gather in a special space to deliver speeches using PPP (PowerPoint) presentations. This helps them develop not only their English but also their digital literacy and public speaking confidence.

Their presentations are evaluated by a jury of senior students, using clearly defined assessment criteria prepared in advance. Meanwhile, a team of student “journalists” reports on the event. They interview speakers, take notes, and later write articles that are published in the EfE Club newspaper. Outstanding presenters often receive awards, a great motivation to keep growing.

When students become teachers

In the second term of the school year, many EfE Club learners take part in a special tradition: becoming trainee teachers. They prepare carefully and conduct lessons for junior students, filled with fun and creative activities.

This unique role-reversal experience develops a variety of valuable skills:

  1. Leadership – They take responsibility and guide others with confidence.

  2. Communication – They learn to explain ideas clearly and adjust their tone for younger learners.

  3. Creativity – Designing activities boosts imagination and problem-solving.

  4. Empathy & Patience – Working with children encourages emotional intelligence.

  5. Maturity – Playing the teacher role fosters responsibility and respectful behavior.

  6. Teamwork – Planning and teaching in pairs promotes collaboration.

  7. Presentation Skills – Speaking in front of others sharpens public speaking abilities.

Through this activity, students grow not only as learners but as leaders and mentors.

Year-end quiz: Learning that lasts

As the school year wraps up, students begin preparing for the exciting EfE Club Quiz: “What? Where? When?” The questions are drawn from the texts they studied throughout the year, motivating them to review, reflect, and revise.

They create their own quiz questions, challenge groupmates, and try to recall important content to win the game. This friendly competition pushes them to revisit their coursebook, strengthening long-term memory and deepening understanding.

Beyond language: Skills for life

As Marine puts it, “When students learn English, they are not just learning an international language they are also developing global awareness and cognitive abilities.”

Here’s what her teaching approach helps students gain:

  1. Intercultural Understanding – Exploring English content exposes them to diverse cultures, ideas, and values.

  2. Critical Thinking – They learn to analyze, interpret, and connect information in meaningful ways.

  3. Communication – They improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through real-life practice.

  4. Confidence – Success in activities builds self-esteem and readiness to take on challenges.

  5. Social Skills and Collaboration Group work and pair activities in English classes encourage teamwork, idea-sharing, and respectful communication. Students become more effective at working with others, even those from different cultural or social backgrounds.

  6. Digital Literacy By engaging with English through videos, games, online tools, and global platforms, students naturally enhance their digital skills while learning the language.

  7. Confidence and Independence Successfully using English in real-life situations builds self-esteem. Students grow into more independent learners, empowered to explore the world beyond their native language.

EfE Club, under the guidance of Marine Paksadze, proves that English lessons can be anything but ordinary. Through creative activities, leadership opportunities, and meaningful interaction, students aren’t just learning a language, they’re learning how to think, speak, connect, and grow. In a world that’s constantly changing, that kind of education is truly priceless.
