Myth or truth? To be a successful coach or entrepreneur, you need to publish as much content as possible. Which would mean exhausting yourself and your ideas in a process that does not necessarily advance you or your skills. Which would mean forgetting about the love and joy of having your own business. Which would mean neglecting the very essence of having your own business.
When you push yourself to do something that does not feel right or good, you slowly kill your creative flow, and you step into a hectic and chaotic process that does not serve your clients or yourself. As I step into more mindfulness and effectiveness with my daily actions, I want the same thing for you. I say NO to inefficient actions that do not bring me joy. What about you? What does content creation have to do with success?
In my opinion, being a successful coach is about sharing value and serving your clients in the best way possible - without neglecting your own needs and joy.
As I often say, if it does not bring you joy and fulfillment, then don’t do it.
Having said that, content creation is one of the best ways to build your authority and set yourself as the expert in your field in front of the right people. So whether you decide to be visible online or not, whether you decide to write blogs or speak at events, you still need to create and share your brilliance and expertise at one point.
However,
Content creation does not need to be a "pain-in-the-butt" process.
It does not need to be endless.
It does not need to be a long process either.
It does not need to suck your joy and leave you empty.
INSTEAD, what if you let it be:
FUN
EFFORTLESS
EMPOWERING
And you say ‘YES’ to efficient actions that support yourself and your business. To make the transition easier for you, below are my top six ways to effortlessly create content that feels good and right for you and your ideal clients. I promise, you will never lack inspiration ever again.
The Brain Dump Method
This is my favorite way to get my creative fluid flow from my heart to my brain and vice versa.
On a blank sheet of paper, let the flow of your ideas dump onto the page. There is no right or wrong content, just ideas that need to be out. Then assess if you want to explore them more deeply into a post, an article, a video, or something else.
Here, you have the permission to open the flow and let the ideas fly. When done, you just have to organize them into themes or preferences. Create the ones you want and let the others be for now.
Pro Tip: Set a timer so that you keep it efficient.
Survey Your Audience (and current clients)
Ask your audience what they struggle with and need support with. You probably have an idea, but something that we think someone needs is far from reality. Step into their shoes by asking them what they need the most. When I go through the process of surveying my clients, which happens quite often, I make the point to learn from them as much as they learn from me. Pro Tip: Use google form or SurveyMonkey to get as many answers as possible. Make the time to jump on a quick chat with your dear clients.
Let Amazon Help You
Yes, you read me right. I said wrote Amazon. Amazon is an amazing place to gather ideas and never lack inspiration. Do you know what books your ideal clients read? If you don’t, I highly encourage you to explore what they read. From there, look at what they say about it. Look deep into the reviews section. From 3 stars and up, you’ll gain massive knowledge about what they look for. I do it every month. I go on Amazon and check the reviews of books my audience, and ideal clients are reading. It’s an amazing and abundant source of information. Pro Tip: Don’t neglect the lingo. The words they use tell you a lot about how they receive and perceive information. Use your learning lingo to craft a message that truly resonates with them.
Let Google Help You
I am telling you, Google wants to help you big time, even more, when you search for something.
I don’t know if you notice but Google always tries to finish your sentence when you type something into the search box. Well, it’s based on most research terms. Soak in it and extract what you need.
There is also a section called ‘people also ask.’ Here again, is another place to find inspiration.
Last but not least when you scroll down completely, you will find the ‘related searches’ section.
You’ll even get the wording that people (your audience) type directly onto Google searches. This is a great way to validate the headlines you have in mind for your blogs.
Theme Your Content
Another cool way to get organized with your thoughts and ideas and never ever lack inspiration is to create 6 to 7 big themes that highlight your expertise. For example, let’s say you are fitness trainer and you coach people to live their healthiest life. Maybe you could create the following themes:
Movement
Nutrition & Digestion
Recipes
Workouts
Mindset
Etc.
Or it could be:
Abs & Core
Lower body
Upper body
Body & Mind Connection
Rehabilitation
Etc.
Then you would create topics around these big themes. Each week, you’d share a new theme/topic.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget that people like repetition. Very often you only need to tweak the headline and update your content to what’s more relevant to you and your audience. Know that you don’t need to always invent and create from fresh ideas and concepts.
Repurpose Your Most Popular Posts
As simple as it sounds, make time to go back to your most popular posts ~ those that got a lot of engagement (likes, comments, and shares) ~ and repurpose them.
Change format. If you wrote a long post, maybe next time you create a short video or slides (slides do amazing on LinkedIn by the way).
Let your creative flow join your party by changing formats not the content.
Pro Tip: Keep in mind that your clients, prospects, and the overall audience can’t handle new concepts at a fast pace. They need repetition to fully get what you say. Don’t reinvent the wheel and when in doubt, just change how you deliver it.
Conclusion
Creating content can be a pain-in-the-butt process, and if it’s how you see it, I am inviting your to change your perspective around it. Hopefully, this post helped you to do so.
I repeat; creating content can be fun, empowering, and effortless. More importantly, it’s an easy way to share your brilliance and magic with your audience.
Book time every two months right now on your calendar and honor that appointment with yourself and your brilliance. Honor your content and value. Don’t forget that some people are looking for you. Make yourself visible.
