It’s been on my mind lately how, as high achievers, we pour so much energy into our people, our projects, and our purpose that we often forget what simple pleasure even feels like. Think: a luxurious, slow breath, a long, warm hug, or an afternoon spent lost in a story. Sometimes, taking time for pleasure can even trigger a stress response because slowing down feels unfamiliar. But here’s the truth: pleasure is good for you. It softens the edges, nourishes your nervous system, and brings you back to life.

Woman in a white lace dress smiles while sitting on rocky beach. Ocean waves and sandy shore in the background create a serene scene.

Pleasure is something you may unconsciously believe to be sinful, or feel guilty about

But what if we reframed your idea of pleasure?

The word itself can conjure up all kinds of images, right?

Just pause for a moment and notice what’s coming up for you now.

Pleasure can be the delicious taste of honey,

or the caress of sunshine on your skin.

It can be the cool ocean or a warm bath.

Pleasure can be quiet solitude at dusk,

the nuzzle of your furry friend,

or the loving gaze of someone who truly sees you.

It’s whatever brings you back to yourself

A photo or memory of a loved one.

The scent of a blossom, the rhythm of music, the curve of art, the comfort of friendship.

Beauty and joy release feel-good endorphins,

soothe the nervous system,

and lift your spirit back into alignment.

Pleasure is not a sin. It’s not something to feel guilty about.

It is your birthright to feel good, to enjoy this body and this life.

So ask yourself

Where have you stopped feeling pleasure?

Where do you still allow it, guilt-free?

Why did you stop scheduling joy?

Or when do you choose joy, and where do you make space for it?

What belief has blocked your access to feeling good?

And what new belief might open the door?

Because passion is the next level of pleasure.

It fuels your fire, lifts your energy, and inspires you to act.

It’s your spark. And when passion meets purpose, you rise.
