One side of your brain's hemisphere serves as the typical mould for your character, style, daily habits, thinking, and performance. Is this a sufficient lifelong guide? We can learn to synchronize and unify both parts of the hemispheres' functions.

The left and right hemispheres have different roles that can be integrated. We need both sides of the equation for optimal performance, effective communication, and increased emotional well-being.

Some of the differences are listed below

Left Hemisphere

Right Hemisphere

  • Highly Emotional (anger)

  • Follow steps

  • Wilful blindness

  • Process

  • Intellectual Pride

  • Rigid

  • Contempt

  • Day-to-day

  • Closed outlook

  • Inflexible

  • Black-and-white thinking

  • Excludes

  • Controlling

  • Grab, grasp, hold

  • Hubristic

  • Likes certainty

  • Perfection

  • Linear

  • Conscious self-image

  • Familiarity

  • Either/or thinking

  • Scripted

Awareness of habitual patterns can lead to a more holistic, engaged, and effective use of the brain. Both hemispheres are required to function daily in a wholesome manner. Synchronization of the two sides can increase performance and enhance well-being.

Preference for one side is reflected in an individual's strengths, enjoyment, problem-solving ability, idea generation, behavior, thinking, and communication style. Challenge yourself by doing the opposite of the norm and stretching the borders that have been part of your typical mould. Gift yourself a new experience by picking and choosing the best offerings from both sides.

Factors to consider with performance

  • Multiple roles integrated and masked as one role

  • Specialist role or generalist role

  • Time to complete each task

  • Risk associated with each task

  • Decision-making scope

  • Skills and experience

  • Emotional, physical, and mental aspects

Start thinking from a whole-person perspective to get the desired outcome. Both sides of the brain's hemispheres shape and guide your personality, instincts, movement, decisions, motivation, emotions, intention, thinking style, unconscious and conscious self-image, social engagement, depth, communication, choices, input, output, capability, and much more.

Why is considering this perspective important?

The goal is awareness with an integrative approach to performance and relational outcomes, and to enhance emotional well-being. It avoids being pigeonholed into one or the other type of person. It increases the synchronization and unification of the hemispheres and reduces our polarized view of the left and right brain hemispheres.

Performance, job satisfaction, emotional well-being, team effort, service quality, and results require an awareness of how the brain hemispheres function separately and as a whole in our daily context, allowing integration for optimal choices and outcomes.

Ask questions that deliver the desired performance outcomes

Each hemisphere differs in its approach to and processing of information and emotional strength for problem-solving, challenges, solutions, and outcomes.

  • Is interhemispheric or intrahemispheric processing required?

  • Is there a cost to dividing the process and tasks between hemispheres?

  • Will the dividing of processes between the hemispheres lead to higher performance?

  • Can individuals process various tasks separately and in parallel for the best outcome?

  • How complex is the task, time to process, and distribution versus service quality to complete each task?

  • Is there a focus on one type of task versus the relevance of hemispheres?

  • Has there been consideration for the emotional aspects of the role versus the mental and physical requirements?

Clarification and unification

  • Protect your mental health

  • Build your vocabulary

  • Engage all your senses

  • Reduce stress

  • Less is more

  • Eat better

  • Sleep, dream, and rest

  • Engage in cross-lateral movements

  • Learn something new

  • Express emotions

  • Meditate

  • Be enthusiastic

  • Optimize social engagement

  • Slow down

  • Keep hydrated

The left and right hemispheres work for you. Help strengthen the connection between the brain hemispheres. Why? This protects it from daily input and applies discernment for optimal output. Become the masterclass expert on the unification and synchronization of your brain hemispheres.
